LIVER DUMPLINGS One pound of liver, one cup soaked bread, one cup flour, one teaspoon baking powder, one egg, one teaspoon salt and one chopped onion, If the flavor if liked. ORANGE BREAD Cut rinds of three oranges and boil With one-fourth cup sugar until thick, then mix with one-half cup water, one egg, one cup milk, one tablespoon melted butter and three cups of flour into which have been mixed three teaspoons of baking powder and one-half level teaspoon Os salt. CANNED VEGETABLES FOR WINTER USE Use as much of cabbage, butter beans, green beans, onions, carrots, turnips, potatoes, tomatoes, celery and com as you like. Prepare the vegetables and cut In small cubes. Mix all together in a large pan. Pack tightly in sterilized jars; add spoon of salt to every quart jar and fill with cold water to cover. Use new rubbers and screw lids on loosely (just so they catch). Put cans in wire fruit jar holder and lower into boiler of cold water. Water should reach the edge of lids. Boil four hours after water starts to boil. Keep adding hot water as it boils away. Keep lid on boiler. When done remove cans, screw lids as tight as possible night and morning. Spread the bread lightly with butter. Slice the cheese and place it between the slices of bread. Cut each sandwich Into halves and dip them into the mixture of beaten egg and milk. Pour enough scalding hot milk over the bread to moisten and when soft work the bread and salmon together; add four well beaten, eggs and salt and pepper to suit taste.
