NAVIGATION LAW VIOLATIONS STIR HOOSIER WATERS - -- \ Industrial Board Sends Man to Wawasee to Explain Motor Boat Rules. Trouble brewed on Indiana’s waters today. So much trouble, In fact, that It was necessary for the State Industrial board to send a representative to Lake Wawasee to straighten out a tangle In the navigation laws there. Early this week the board received complaint from the Wawasee Protective Association and the committee on navigation of “numerous and flagrant violation of the laws” through operation of power boats on the largest of Hoosier lakes. Violations Reported Among the violations of Indiana’s navigation laws reported were night racing, operation of unlighted launches after dark and abandonment of mufflers. It Is said that several hundred launches are operated on Wawasee. Dlxson H. Bynum. Industrial board chairman, detailed State Building Inspector James E. Reagln to Wawasee today, with Instructions to call a meeting of power boat operators. Reagln will explain the Indiana navigation law and attempt to secure cooperation by owners of all launches. His Instructions will be broadcast to all Indiana lakes where power boats are used. Ten Miles an Hour Limit Principal requirements of the Irv diana naglvation law are a maximum speed of ten miles an hour after dark, closed mufflers and the use of signal lights on all power boats fore and aft. A thirty-day jail sentence or a SSO fine, or both, are provided for persons convicted of exceeding the tenmile speed limit.
RUMQRHOOVERTO GET KELLOGG! Washington Sees Significance in Conference. Times Washfnrrton Bureau. IS 2 2 New York Avenue WASHINGTON, Aug. 18.—Rumor that Secretary of State Kellogg Is discussing with President Coolidge his own resignation has revived the notion here that Herbert Hoover, Secretary of Commerce, may step into Kellogg’s shoes. Those who profess to show how Coolidge shuffles his Cabinet cards, recall that the President’s purpose once was to have Charles Beecher Warren as his SecState. At the time Kellogg was appointed It was very generally asserted that the appointment was for a short term only, that Warren would be transferred to the Job after entering the Cabinet as Attorney General. When the Senate, because of his record in connection with the sugar trust, refused to confirm Warren as Attorney General Kellogg remained head of the Cabinet. The Department of Commerce never hasJooked to Hoover’s friends as a big enough place for the former food administrator. Though he accepted the appointment gracefully and has labored to make his department as Important as any of them, still the feeling has persisted that he was deriving greater recognition.
Stomach Caused Awful Suffering "Was Bloated, Nervous, Sleepless and Dizzy. Entirely Well Now. Anyone who is suffering from the pangs of indigestion and stomach trouble, will be interested in a letter written by Alex Blacky Gaston, Ind., telling how he quickly regained his health. Mr. Black writes: “I suffered with a breakdown five years ago. It just seemed as if everything was the matter with me. I had blood pressure, a bad stomach, constipation, and I was so nervous I would just shake. I could not sleep at night. My nerves just Jumped. My stomach would bloat and cramp and the gas would press back my heart till I thought maybe I had organic heart trouble. My bowels would hardly move even with a laxative, and never without one. I had dizzy spells and would stagger and almost fall. I did not have any appetite, and what I did eat wouldn’t stay down. I tried different medicines, but only got a little relief. Then hearing from friends about Viuna, I started taking it. Right from the first It helped me, and now I feel fine, as good as I ever did in my life. I eat anything and everything, have a good appetite my bowels are In good shape, my nervousness is practically gone. I am a man 70 years of age, and If Viuna helps everyone like it has me, it sure is wonderful. vinna acts promptly on slnggM bowels, lazy liver and weak kidneys. It purifies the blood, clears the skin, restores appetite and digestion, and bring! new strength and energy to the whols body. Take a bottle on trial. REBELS REPORTED ENTERMEXICO War Department Asked for Troops, Rumor. Bv United Press MEXICO CITY. Aug. 18.—Un ; confirmed reports were circulated here today that 100 armed rebels, coming from New Mexico, entered Palomas In the State of Chihuahua. The War Department has been asked for troops. It was reported. It has been confirmed that the episcopate has sent a letter to President Calles expressing the church’s loyalty to the government and the hope that the Incoming congress may find a legal means to modify the present religious situation. The disclosure follows conferences of the Episcopal committee looking toward a plan of mediation in the religious controversy. Earlier In the day Bishop Pasqual Diaz of Tabasco, spokesman for the episcopate, had told the United Press that the Episcopate was studying plans on which a proposition to the Government would be based, but said that the Episcopate would Insist that the rights of the church must be recognized along lines previously laid down. His declaration was the first sign that higher churchmen were still concerned with mediation plans. Prior to confirmation of the fact that a letter had actually been sent' to President Calles. the opinion was expressed by observers here that there was little possibility of an accord as long as the government was occupied with threats of revolution and the church remained adamant In Its demands that all Its rights be restored.
