Stoops called attention to the fact that, as compared with the experience of members of the local club In previous years, there have been thus far in 1926 far fewer complaints from motorists who were held up in course of their tours on vicarious charges by speed trap artists and roadside courts. The UNITED PRESS operator, sitting: at the keyboard—perhaps in New York —typewrites the news-story which is in- • stantly typewritten by the receiving machine in Chicago or San Francisco, the only connection between the TWO MACHINES IS A TELEGRAPH WIRE. “Iron Mike” is the nick-name of this magical device which can handle from 12,000 to 15,000 words or more a day—as much as the most expert human telegraph operators can handle. There are more than one hundred and fifty “Iron Mikes” in operation on united press circuits today making possible new successes in speed and accuracy and volume in news transmission. \> " i TMOewspaper is a UNITED PRESS newspaper. American Automobile Association and its affiliated clubs. "Asa result of that campaign, several justices of peace were put out of offlpe and a score of administrators of th<| fee system were indicted by grand juries. In addition, the legal officers of the States were asked to issue Instructions as to the Jurisdiction of roadside courts. "We may expect, however, to hear from them as the touring season progresses. For this reason, we invite all local motorists to present their complaints to the club. If they run into speed traps and fake arrests while en tour they should report their experiences to the nearest A. A. A. club. At the same time they should make certain of obtaining a receipt in case of fine.
