REPORTS FISHING GOODTHIS YEAR More Than Two Million Baby Fish Planted. According to George N. Mannfeld of the division of fish and game of the State conservation department fishing so far this year has been good, the department receiving reports of numerous large fish caught this season, V One angler reports the catching of a large-mouth black bass weighing eight pounds and eleven ounces. Mannfeld says he has every reason •to believe that this is not a fish story. Prior to July the State fish and game department -had raised and planted in Hoosier waters more than 2.000,000 baby fish, these being raised in the five hatcheries operated by the department. Os the 2,000,000 fish raised about threefourts were yellow perch. Xext in order of numbers were black bass, crappie, rock bass and blue gills. Difficulty has been experienced this year in fillling orders for blue gills and channel catfish because of late spawning. Crappie, being the most difficult to handle, arc also giving the department considerable trouble, especially in the matter of making deliveries. LIGHTNING KILLS FARMER By United Prctx EVANSVILLE. MR. FIXIT Dweller Protests Crowds at Corner,
Let Mr. Fixit preaent your case to city offi lals He is Tne Times repr<sentative at the city hall. Write him at Times. The rendezvous of drunks at a Massachusetts Ave. corner is annoying to neighbors, it would appear from a letter Mr. Fixit received. DEAR MR. FIXIT: Why is it that crowds of drunks are allowed to hold forth every night at Massachusetts Ave. and St., until the wee. small hours and later? The matter has been reported several times to my /knowledge. There are some of us living near by who like to sleep at night. 'A READER. Police promised Mr. Fixit to try to break up the gatherings. DEAR MR. FIXIT: What can I do in this' case? The lot to mine is higher than mine. Each time it rains. I get a flock of clay and sand over in my grass. A statistical report issued recently by the Standard Oil Company (Indiana), reveals a remarkable accord between management and employes of the Com- ’ pany. It shows complete agreement in 90% of the matters considered by the Joint General Committees, under the Industrial Relations Plan since its adoption in 1919. , It is noteworthy that in the few cases of disagreement, the differences were not over such vital subjects as wages, hours and working conditions, but related to subjects of minor importance. This report is conclusive evidence of the internal harmony which manifests itself in many ways. A feeling of good fellowship prevails among the employes and between the employes and the management. • \ Wherever a group of Standard 03 Company (Indiana) employes are working—at an off well—in the laboratory—refinery—or service station —an atmosphere of good-will and friendliness is apparent. This internal harmony is reflected in the attitude of the Standard 03 Company (Indiana) employes toward the people they serve. The harmony prevailing within, is radiated without the organization. The consuming public receives the benefit in friendly, cheerful, competent service. The comradeship that exists throughout-the entire organization of the Standard Oil Company (Indiana) has been definitely strengthened by such measures as the Industrial Relations and Stock Purchasing Plans. • ♦ The human, personal character of the organization is the inspiration back of the various measures which promote internal harmony. The Standard 03 Company (Indiana) always has believed that mere magnitude of numbers does not alter the human characteristics and relationships of a group. * TMe Standard 03 Company (Indiana) works on the theory that a working force of 29,000 men and women should be bound together by the common ties of sympathy and friendship which unite a small fam3y group. The size of the group heightens, rather than minimizes, the i importance of the individual. The Standard 03 Company (Indiana) is a huge organization, whose success depends upon the earnest effort of each of the 29,000 individuals who constitute the whole. Through thi§ harmonious and co-operative working of the organization as a whole, the management is achieving the goal set for the Company, i.e., to render such a broad and comprehensive service as to merit the respect and esteem of the thirty million people of the Middle West- • \ Standard Oil Company ( Indiana ) Genera!
