NEGRO’S BONDS MW Efforts of Corporation Counsel Fruitless. Efforts of Alvah J. Rucker, city corporation counsel, to convince Special Judge Thomas E. Garvin not to increase the bond of Wilbur Shacklett, Negro, alleged bootlegger, from SI,OOO to $5,000. proved fruitless in Criminal Court Friday afternoon. Shacklett, granted a change of yenue from Criminal Judge A. Collins, entered a plea of not guilty to a charge of assault and battery with intent to kill. Friday morning, Judge Collins, on motion of Prosecutor William H. Remy, increased Shacklett’s bonds in two other cases from SI,OOO each to $5,000. Shacklett also has two municipal court appeals pending in Criminal Court, making the \;alue of all his bonds $15,200. Shacklett was remanded to Sheriff Omer Hawkins upon failure to provide bonds.

DISEASE FATAL 10 JAMESS.DUNLAP Dies at Hospital—Prominent in Club Circles. James S. Dunlap, 76, 2003 Ruckle St., prominent in Indianapolis club circles, died Friday night at St. Vincent's Hospital from disease of the kidneys which brought to a close a long period of ill health. Funeral arrangements have not been made. Mr. Dunlap was one of the incorporators of the Columbia Club and was a member of the Marion Club and the old German House, now the Athanaeum. Born in Licking County, Ohio, he came to Indianapolis when 22 years of age and engaged in the agricultural implement business, becoming later St. Louis branch manager for the Oliver Plow Company. He helped organize the Union Transfer and Storage Company, later the Union Transfer Company, and was prominent in real estate circles in his later years. The widow. Mrs. Harriett C. Dunlap, and a sister, Miss Adda Dunlap, Utica, Ohio, survive. CITY WARNS BUILDERS All Furnace Contractors Should Be Made to Show Permit. Warning to all persons building building houses to require their furnace contractors to show them a permit from the clay building department was issued in a statement by city smoke inspectors today. The statement declared that the builder is protected from faulty construction because the contractor is required by a city ordinance to deposit a $3,000 bond to insure compliance with safety regulations of the city building code. The bond i6 held two years. There are 167 bonded heating contractors in Indianapolis, according ,to the statement. to dedicate~ciTurch Services at Little Flower Catholic Edifice Sept. 12. The new Little Flower Catholic Church, Fourteenth St. and Bosart Ave., will he dedicated Sept. 12 with a solemn higli mass in the morning, it was announced today by the Rt. Rev. Joseph Chartrand, bishop of the Indianapolis diocese. Bishop Chartrand will bless the building and deliver an address. The Rev.
