SERVICES ARE TO BE HELD IN CITY* FOR T. C. STEELE Ashes of Distinguished Indiana Painter Will Be Busted in Brown County. Funeral services for Theodore C. Steele, famous Indiana artist, who died Saturday at his Brown County home, w?re to be held at 4 p. ni. today at the Flanner and Buchanan Mortuary, where the body will be cremated. The Rev. Fred A. Line, Central Universalist Church pa'stor, will deliver the funeral sermon and George C. Calvert, manager of the Indianapolis Clearing House Association and formerly a director of the Indianapolis Art Association, will pay a personal tribute. The body was accompanied to Indianapolis by Brandt, Steele, a son, and Theodore Steele, a grandson of the arlist. The ashes of the distinguished painter will be burled Tuesday at the foot of an oak tree on a hill where he had his home and where he recorded on canvas paintings of Indiana scenes that drew worldwide attention. Evans Woollen and Carl Lieber. both of Indianapolis, will speak at the burial services. Indiana University officials are oensidering building a memorial the man upon whom the universitfß conferred an honorary degree in 1916, and who later was designated as honorary professor of painting. Mr. and Mrs. Steele equipped a large room in the Indiana University library in an artistic manner. Here during the school year Mr. Steele explained his ( conception of art to the students. In summer months the Steeles remained at their Brown County home. ' Indiana University chapter of Sigma Delta Chi, the national journalistic fraternity, awarded to Mr. Steele the “leather medal," given annually to the professor who has contributed most to the advancement of culture. seven paintings by Mr. Steele and one portrait of him by Simon Baus will be on exhibition at the John Herron Art Institute this week. The exhibit will include at least two of the seven paintings the Institute owns, three lent by Frank Ball, Muncie manufacturer, and two the property of Walter Millikan and Mrs. John M. Carey.

URGES CAPITAL MOVE Brazilian President Asks Seat of Government Be Changed Bu United Press RIO DE JANEIRO, July 26. President Arthur Bernardes, three and a half years at the he|g| of the Brazilian Government, is vinced of the necessity of removing the capital of Brazil from Rio de Janeiro to a district in the center of the State of Goyaz, which is geographically more centrally located. In his last message to Congress he again called the attention of the legislators to the provision of the Federal Constitution for removal of the Federal capital to Goyaz, where a strip was marked off by the makers of the constitution for the future capital of the republic. What the nation pays for the upkeep and development of natural beauties of Rio de Janeiro alor.e would bd more than sufficient tomeet all expenses connected with removing the capital to Goyaz, President Bernardes declared.
