SOT BROTHERS MEETfPRISON ‘Hello,,Bob;’ ‘Hello,, Rus,’ They Say. By t 7 nlted Press CHICAGO, July 16. —One visioning the gallows on which he is to die; the other staring into the blank future of a life in prison; the Scott brothers —Russell and Robert today faced each otheb in adjoining cells. They met Thursday for the first time since one of them shot and killed Joseph Maurer. v That was more than two years ago. \ They shook hands casually that night and started out ta defeat justice. Thursday night they shook hands again, casually, with justice the winner. The first greeting the brothers had extended to each other in two years was merely"an informal “Hello Bob" which followed Russell’s “Hello Rus.” They visited for approximately ten minutes. Their conversation was desultory- Neither mentioned the murder. Neither mentioned the other’s penalty. Russell said nothing to Robert about the problem which came up during the trial when Robert let Russell “take the rap alone." He didn’t a?k Robert why the latter stayed in hiding, despite numerous broadcastings of Russell for to come in “and tell the real Ibtory” which *Russell said would make, Robert the killer. The meeting of the brothers was allowed when Russell told his jailer “that since I am to hang pretty soon, I’d like mighty well to be near my brother.” Henceforth he will. Louis Scott, 25, Negro, of 939 Paca St., today is charged with robbery and grand larceny, having been identified as the bandit who held up Sherman Welch, 38 W. Twenty-Sixth St., attendant at the Standard Oil filling station, Geisendorf and W. "Washington Sts., a few minutes before his arrest.
