CHICAGO GRAIN START IS HIGHER Influenced by Strong Tone in Wheat, . Bu United Press CHICAGO. July 16 —Grain prices opened higher on the Chicago board of trade this morning under the influence of the stronger tone of wheat. Reporta of hail and rain stoqn damage In Saskatchewan and of temperatures aa low aa 39 degrees at Calgary, while conditions on the American side of the line are still hot and dry, save for a few scattered showers in North Dakota, together with unexpected stronger Liverpool cables, caused wheat to register advances of %c to %c at the opening. * Corn gained from % to % of a cent on yesterday’s Anal quotations in sympathy with wheat. There is nothing new In the crop reports or other angles concerning this pit. Oats is in a better technical position than corn, but could not be expected to register any advances in the face of the falling wheat prices; levels In this pit today, however, are fractionally higher.
