One tablespoon butter, one teaspoon chopped onion, one teaspoon green pepper chopped, a dash of cayenne, six chicken livers, one cup chicken stotk, tw r o hard cooked eggs, one-fourth teaspoon mustard. Cook onion and green peppers in butter until tender and add chicken livers. Drown, add stock and let simmer until livers are tender. Chop fine and add chopped eggs, mustard and cayenne. Spread on thin slices of white bread and serve. Mrs. H. G. Blake, 1651 College Ave., City. NUT CLUSTERS Place two cups sugar, threefourths cup water and one-sixth teaspoon cream of tartar in a saucepan. Stir until sugar Is dissolved. Then boil rapidly fifteen or twenty minutes until syrup; becomes hard when tested In Ice water. Be careful not to agitate the pan or stir the syrup, but test gently by dipping a fork into the *syrup and then into the ice water. When it is hard reduce the heat just t a keep the syrup warm. Have ready one-half pound shelled Brazil nuts. With a tablespoon drop in very gently a portion of the nuts at a time, removing theni to a well-buttered platter, jwhich should be placed by the kettle. Work quickly. If there should be any Syrup left, flavor with a few drops of lemon or cherry juice and put Into an oiled to harden. Cut into squares when cool. Mrs. Marie Murray, Apt. 11, 510 N. Meridian St., Indianapolis. ASPARAGUS A LA CARDINAL Choose the small green variety of asparagus. Clean and wash -thoroughly and cut into small pieces, using only tender parts. Blanch In boiling -water and when it is tender, drain and put into a casserole with good butter. (Canned asparagus tips may be used). Sprinkle with flour and moisten with fowl bouillon in which mushrooms have cooked. Fry In butter small slices of bread and add a dash of tomato sauce. Arrange the asparagus over these slices. Then add to the remainder of the sauce a chopped truffle. Withdraw it from the fire and bind with the yolk of two eggs. Serve with the sauce separate. Miss Florence Moore, R. R., Box 137, Indianapolis, Ind. STUFFED PEPPERS Remove covers from stem ehds of ten mangoes and soak In salt water for half an hour. Make a filling of one pound hamburger, one cup cold boiled rice, one beaten egg, one cup canned tomatoes, and one onion. Season with salt, pepper and butter. Moisten filling with milk to right consistency and stuff peppers heaping full. Place in a shallow pan with enough water to come up one.lnch on peppers. BAKED PEA PATTIES Cover one can peas (or equivalent of fresh peas) with milk and cook slowly ten minutes. (Cook fresh ones until tender.) Remove from fire and add -white sauce made from one tablespoon sugar, one teaspoon butter , one tablespoon flour, threefourths cup of milk and salt and pepper to taste. Mix dry ingredients and blend with butter. Add milk, which has been scalded, and cook until thick. Cook a few minutes after peas have been added to blend well. Patty Shells: Sift one

cup flour, one teaspoon baking powder, one-fourth teaspoon salt together: add two tablespoons shortening and rub In very lightly with the finger tips. Add slowly enough oold water to make a stiff dough. Roll this thin, cut Into circles and cqver outside of muffin tins. Bake in oven until light brown (open side down). Dough should be pricked with a fork to prevent blisters in dough. Remove patties from oven, place In pan open side up and return to oven for five minutes. Fill with hot peas aAd serve Mrs. 8. A. PEA AND PIMENTO SALAD One-half oup pimentos, two cups cooked peas, two cups diced cooked potatoes, salt and pepper, shredded lettuce, mayonnaise dressing, and three hard cooked eggs. Reserve one pimento for garnishing. Cut others in strips; combine peas, potatoes and pimentos. Season to taste with salt and white pepper. CREAMED RADISH SOUP Six large radishes sliced, one and one-half cups whole milk, one and one-half tablespoons of butter, one tablespoon of flour, salt and pepper to taste. Moisten flour with cold milk and add to other Ingredients. Put all on stove, cook until radishes are tender. Serve hot. with crackers. Mrs. Ethel K. Lochr, Greenfield, Ind., R. R. 7. FRENCH MINT SHERBET Four cups water, two cups sugar, one cup lemon juice, one hunch of fresh mint. Boil water and syrup five minutes. Add lemon juice and strain mixture over the finely cut leaves of mint. Let stand until cold. Freeze and serve instead of mint jelly with hot roast lamb. Miss Alice M. Beqph, 45 S.
