SPECIAL SESSION JO BE HELD FOR SHUIUAM Supreme Court to Convene * in About Two Weeks — Punishment Likely. Supreme Court will meet in special session In about two weeks to take Anal action on the charges of contempt brought against Dr. Edward S. Shumaker, superintendent of the Indiana Anti-Saloon League, by Attorney General Arthur L. Gilliom. That Shumaker will be punished, cither by fine or imprisonment, appears almost certain, since five of the six “fHends of the court” appointed to study the case recommend a finding of guilt. Shumaker’s legal assistants, Ethan A. Miles and Jess E. July 16.—New efforts of the transit commission to end the strike on New York Subway and elevated lines will be made today when Edward P. strike leaders, confers with Herman A. Metz, one of the three representatives of the public on the Interborough Rapid Transit Company board of directors. Metz has asked Frank Hedley, president of the I. R. TANARUS., to restore all strikers to their former status. Hedley has promised to take the men back at their old rates of pay, but refuses to restore seniority. Transit facilities were still crippled today as New York went to work in a heavy rain.
