POLICE DISPERSE RIOTOUS CROWD \ I Patrolman in Fight With Intoxicated Prisoner. Police lispers'ed a riotous mob at Twenty-Fifth St., and Martindale Ave., Thursday night, after a police officer and a Negro, arrested on an intoxication charge, engaged in a fight. A police emergency squad, in charge of Lieut. George Winkler, dispersed the mob that totaled more than 500 Negroes, many whom swarmed to the scene from Douglas Park, near by. Patrolman Michael Griffin, arrested Charles Starnes, Negro, 24, of 2473 N. Rural St., who was asieep on a Columbia Ave., street car, Griffin assigned to ride the car during the strike, said it reached the end of the line and when he imformed Starnes the latter struck him. In taking Starnes from . the car Griffin said the prisoner broke a glass from a door and cut his arm. Witnesses declared Starnes intoxicated. While the emergency squad was investigating a Negro took Starnes away in a private auto and he was found later at 769 Indiana Ave., weak from the loss of blood. He -was charged with intoxication, resisting arrest and vagrancy. Police say he just finished a sentence at the Indiana State Farm for intoxication. James Crudup, Negro, 1524 Mill St., was charged with assault and battery after police ( found Miss Lucille fuchanan, Negro, of 409 Rankin St., t the Mill St. address suffering from a stab wound. HOTEL FIRE TOLL IS 20 Five Bodies SJill in Rains of Twilight Inn. Bu United Press CATSKILL, N. Y., July 16.—With searchers still digging in the ruins of the Twilight Inn for victims of the fire which destroyed the structure Wednesday, police and county officials today officially fixed the number of dead and missing at twenty. Thus far but one of the bodies taken from the debris has been identified, that of the Rev. Livingston Bishop, of Philadelphia. Five more bodies are believed to be still In the ruins. Fifteen have been recovered. WOMAN, 22, IS SOUGHT Missing From Home Since June 28, Says Relative. Mrs. Eva Miller, 22, of 1123 E. Maryland St., is missing from home and police have been asked to search for her. Mrs. Charles McNerney, 1215 E. Washington St., a sister-in-law, stated that Mrs. Miller left home June 28 and has not been seen since. * / , Charles Cutter, 17, is missing from his home, 2145 N. Gale St., police were told. He was last seen Thursday.

WAWASEE TRIP FOR MOTORISTS Route for Week-End Touq. Offered by Cl*. The Hoosier Motor Club suggests a trip to Lake Wawasee for this week-end. The route is as follows: Leaving India***golis go north on Capitol Ave. to Thirty-Eighth St. Turn right and go east to Meridian. Go north on Meridian St. to the Canal.' Bear right along the canal to Broad^ Ripple. Turn left on State Rd. 1 through Carmel, Westfield, Kokomo to Peru. Leaving Peru go cast on Main St. to Benton St. Turn left and follow detour signs through Gilead, Akron to Mentone —then east over a paved county road through Palestine to Warsaw. State Rd. 27 from Warsaw to Leesburg and Milford —east on a county road from Milford to the latye. The distance is 133 miles. The road Is paved to Just north of Peru; gravel to two miles South of Mentone; paved to Warsaw; and gravel on to the lake except a short stretch of hard surfaced road immediately South of Leesburg. A smoother surface from Peru (but over * partly -unmarked road) is through Roann to Silver Lake; State Rd. 27 on to Warsaw and then over the original route as given above.
