BORAH TO MAKE COAST-MAST POLITICAL TRIP Washington Watching Senator Boomed as Presidential Possibility. Bv United Press WASHINGTON, July 14.—Senator William E. Borah, prominently mentioned 1928 Republican presidential nominee, in a few days will begin a coast-to-coast campaign tour that bears an ominous political import. World court and prohibition will be the chief subjects of discussion, and since these two issues are uppermost in important pending primaries and congressional elections, oßrah’s tour will be closely watched by political leaders in both parties here. His Record Because of his activities with the Senate irreconcilables who fought futilely against adoption of the resolution pledging American adherence to the international Hague tribunal, Borah is hailed as spokesman of that group. More recently, his public statements for the Eighteenth Amendment and the Volstead Act caused many Anti-Saloon League leaders to indorse him as prospective presidential candidate. Borah went into Illinois to aid the anti-World Court fight of Col. Frank Smith, who thereafter won the Republican senatorial nomination, chiefly upon his anti-court stand. The court also has been a leading issue in Indiana, lowa and North Dakota primaries thus far held and probably will be an issue in Missouri, Oklahoma, Ohio, California, Massachusetts, Wisconsin and Colorado. It will be an issue in an even greater number of States twhen Democrats and Republicans meet at the polls in November. May Nullify If Borah arouses such an anticourt sentiment that many Senators who voted for the court are defeated, there is a possibility that some action might be taken in the next Senate to nullify the resolution adopted last February. The results of his prohibition speeches will be closely watched by wets and drys to ascertain whether there is any change of sentiment on the prohibition stuestion in the politically all-important West. While Borah does not know how many speeches he will make or what his itinerary will be, he has decided that his trip will carry him from the Atlantic to the Pacific coast. It probably will include the most Important point in the usual route of “the ewin£ around the circle,” made by pdesidential candidates in the past. PREDICTS CObLIDGE OUT Cummins Thinks President Will Not Bea Candidate in 1928. Bv United Press DES MOINES, lowa, July 14. Predicting that President Coolidge will not be a candidate for re-elec-tion in 1928, Senator Albert B. Cummins, upon his return to Des Moines from Washnigton, also forecast a possible loss of the normal Republican majority in the next Senate dueto the Administration’s attitude on farm relief. Admitting that Coolidge's desire In the matter is an -unknown factor, the veteran lowa statesman expressed the opinion that the chief executive will have had enough of his job by that time. Cummins praised the Administration, declaring that it had been right upon practically everything but its agricultural policy.

At the fence factory is a special plot of ground set aside for testing the weathering qualities of various types of fences. So many lengths of fence have been set up that the yard has become crowded, and the pdths are jumbled and blocked. This morning a test man weijt in the yard by the lower gate to examine the fences. After wandering about he lost his way and could not find an open path out of the yard. He succeeded in getting out only after climbing a few fences. But this was unnecessary, as there is a clear path running through the yard. Can you find it? Last puzzle answer: The 180 bags of peanuts cost Bob, at four for a dime, $4.60, while 180 bags of popsorn, at six for a dime, cost him $3. This makes a total cost of $7.60. But he mixed his stock and sold the 360 bags at 10 for 20 cents, that is 36 lots at 20 cents each, receiving a total of $7.20. Therefore, he lost 30 cents on the transaction.

SLASH PROGRAM. FOR REPAIRING OT SCHOOL PROPERTY Board Abandons Original Summer Plans Cuts ' Expenditure. With only a few weeks of summer vacation remaining, the school board abandoned its plans for a $750,000 summer repair and building program Tuesday night, and approved an emergency repair program that calls for an expenditure on high and grade schools of $184,914.40. The full program, submitted to the board April 29, contained comprehensive plans for improving schools in order to make them habitable and adequate for the coming year. Under the lesser program it will be necessary for the buildings and grounds department to select only work that must be done to protect the child from the weather, and assist in carrying out of the studies. City Library' Repair The first program included repair work to be done on library branch?*, which was cut from the schedule. The new repair p.rogram contains practically no advance work, but merely a series of roof, floor, chimney and window repairs and some improvement of sanitation facilities. At Broad Ripple High School, a ■general reconstruction program for the school- has been sliced to a $1,700 project for installing two septic tataks. The Repair program for Technical High Schbol has been cut considerably and now provides for plumbing, heating and roof repairs and painting. replacing floors and making general repairs at Manual Training High School. Bids Approved The board approved construction bids for Schools 14 and 33. According to the bids accepted, No. 14 will be erected at accost of $84,228.64 and No. 33 will cost $108,410.07. General construction on School 14 will be done by the Service Construction Company and on School S. A. Hickman. * g The buildings and grounds committee recommended all bids on temperature regulation devices on the two schools be rejected. New bids are to be submitted. J., Jyly 14.—1n the belief that some of the seven officers and men still unaccounted sos after the Lake Denmark ammunition explosion may be wandering dazed* through the forest or hlive y but wounded and helpless in some isolated spot, a forqe of 200 Marines will today search the environs' of the ammunition depot. Three Marines, Private Harter, Corporal E. A. Simpson and Private O. E. Siler wandered into camp Tyesday, after having been absent since tjie blasti All were dazed, bruised and with ragged clothing. Harter, shell-shocked, had just been released from a hospital, it was learned, while the other two men' had been wandering in the woods. The finding of two more bodies has raised the total known death list to twenty-one. The body of Mrs. Ida M. Wadhams. wife of Chief Civilian Clerk John Wadhams of the arsenal, was found under a heap of debris in the basement of her home. Another body, so ba'dly mutilated that identification was believed impossible, also has been discovered. The list now stands at fifteen identified and six unidentified dead. If the six bodies are not Identified they will be buried in a single grave in Arlington national cemetery. It is probable that the Nile has a greater variety of fish than any river in the world.
