DEMOCRATS PLAN DRIVE ON VARE Senate Leaders Also to Buck Dry League. Bv United Press WASHINGTON, July 7—A Democratic drive to defeat William S. Vare, Republican senatorial nominee in Pennsylvania, and a prolonged revolt against the power of the AntiSaloon League are to be the immediate effects of disclosures by the Senate primary investigating committee in its month’s inquiry just concluded. Senate leaders conferred before adjournment, the United Press learned today, about the advisability of serving formal notice that Vare would not be seated, but this plan was rejected and it was decided to let the November election take its course. The attack on the Anti-Saloon "League will be led from platforms throughout the country by Senator Reed (Oem.), Missouri, on the basis of evidence he, as chairman of the committee, brought out. BAR ASSOCIATION MEETS Indiana Lawyers Register for Annual Gathering. Bv United Press MICHIGAN CITY, Ind., July B. Members of the Indiana State Bar Association were registering today for the annual meeting of the association. The convention will hold its first session this afternoon. H. B. Tuthill, president of the Michigan City Bar Association, was to deliver the address of welcome. A report of the legislative committee of the association is expected to recommend abolition of the Appellate Court and enlargement of the Supreme Court. W’illiam A. Pickens of -Indianapolis, -vicfe president, is slated to succeed George Dix of Terre Haute as association president at the election of officers tomorrow.
