RAPS SYSTEM OF LIQUORDEPIJTIES Prosecutor’s Plan Wasteful, Declares Murray. Politicians today wondered whether the barrage of Raymond F. Murray, Democratic candidate for Marion County prosecutor, against employment of three deputy attorneys general to prosecute liquor cases for Prosecutor William H. Remy, Republican candidate, forecasts injection of a wet and dry battle as the dominant issue of the county campaign. Addressing the Democratic Progressive League at the Indiana Democratic Club Monday night, Murray attacked the fee plan, under which the deputies are paid, as extravagant. “There is no reason," he declared, “why the many deputy prosecutors now employed by Mr. Remy and paid by the county should not enforce the liquor laws and the fees now paid to the deputy attorneys general be retained in the county treasury.” Murray pointed out the deputies already have received $18,020 in fees for services since Jan. 1, and estimated they will get more than $36,000 before the year ends.

Puzzle a Day
“You know how It Is when you strike an oil boom town Amarillo. Everybody is spending money, and you just naturally follow suit,” the traveling salesman told the man across the aisle. "Why, one day I went out with something SIOO, and spent exactly half of all the money I had with me, in an hour. Funny thing about it was that I had just as many pennies left as I previously had dollars, and only twice as many dollars as I previously had pennies.” The stranger across the aisle would like to know how much money the salesman actually spent, but he is too polite to ask. Can you tell him? Last puzzle answer:

The secret in duplicating the figure shown with only one continuous pencil stroke, lies in folding the corner of your paper over and drawing two or more lines a second time, on the back of the paper. Here they will be invisible and the result will be the one asked for. The following is one of the many answers possible by this method; draw line AB, BE, EA, AF, FE (EC on back of paper), CD, (DF on back of paper) and FB.
