NEW PAVEMENT AT SOUTH BEND ISTHMOPEN Long _ Detour _ Eliminated, _ Says Williams in Highway Bulletin. New pavement on State Rd. 25, known as the Division St. entrance into South Bend, now is open to traffic qnd a long detour, part on State roads and part on county roads, is eliminated, John D. Williams, State highway commission director announced in the commission’s traffic bulletin today. Williams also called attention to the fact that a temporary bridge is going up to care for traffic on Rd. 3 (National Rd.) just east of Brazil, where highway and railroad are to be separated and that the three-mile detour in force here for about a week will be eliminated June 25. He cautioned traffic to drive carefully when the temporary bridge is opened. Surface conditions on roads entering Indianapolis are set forth in the bulletin as follows: _ No. 1 (New Albany. Indianapolis. South Bend. Mich lean line)—Watch for repair gangs working between Broad Ripple and Carmel. Paving between Plymouth and Peru with separate detours marked for north and south traffic between Rochester and Peru. (Traffic may route to Logansport to connect with Rd. 15. an uipaved route, by way of Culver, or take the Rochester-Rogansport road at Rochester, but should bear in mnid that Rd. 15 will be eolaed in about a week at a point some eight miles south of I.ogansport to permit construction.) Detour from two miles north of Edinburg to Franklin account of paving is only fair. Rd. 3 (Richmond. Indianapolis. Terre Haujfc) —Account bridge construction, traffic is using traction company's bridge at Hiser's Station, ten dies west of Richmond. Watchmen at east end of bridge handles traffic by stop and go signals. Three-mile detour account R. R. bridge construction east of Brazil will be eliminated June 25. Old graduates of Garfield School, No. 35, Raymond St. and Madison Ave., will hold a reunion at 8 tonight in the auditorium. June 18.—Federal, State and municipal authorities today launched a triple investigation Into the Blairsville wreck of yesterday in which fifteen persons were killed and half a hundred wore •injured. McNamara, business agent of the Bridge and Structural Iron /Workers Union No. 22, was reelected Thursday night. McNamara is now at liberty under $5,000 appeal bond following his conviction by a jury in Criminal Court on a charge of blackmail. McNamara has been business agent of the union four years. Others elected were John Doyle, president: J. D. Booth, vice-president; William Wilcutts, treasurer: Charles Miller, recording secretary, and J. P. Smith, sergeant-at-arms.

FOR ELIMINATING ‘CHANGE’ SIGNAL i Resolution Adopted by Engineering Society. Elimination of the yellow intermediate signal on automatic traffic controls was proposed to the board of safety in a resolution adopted by the Indianapolis Engineering Society Thursday.
