VITAL ISSUES IN VOTE ON KAISER WEALTH IS SEEN Bolshevism Declared - Back of Plan to Confiscate Royal Property. Editor's Note: Germany will hold its first national referendum Sunday, the question at issue beina whether the state shall oonfiseate the riches of its former rulers. Dr. Friedrich Everline. noted German nationalist, was asked by the United Press to analyze the. measure which was drafted S.y Socialists and Communists. By Dr. Friedrich Everling (Nationalist Reichstaiz Deputy) (Copyright. 1926. bv United Press Associations) - BERLIN, June 18.—On Sunday the German people not only will cast their ballots at the national referendum regarding the property of the royal houses, but they will also demonstrate to what extent the revolution of 1918 and its falsehoods have* been surmounted and vanquished. The proposed confiscation of the princes’ property—an idea emanating from foreigners for the preparation of Bolshevism —would destroy the system of private property. We are fighting the expropriation of the royal houses for the sake of private property and as honest adherents of the monarchy. Our struggle against the confiscation of this royal property is also a testimonial of the gratitude and fidelity which links us inseparably with our princes. Royalty Suffered The royal families which ruled in Germany until 1918, of whom thirteen members died for the Fatherland, assumed a larger share of the misery of the people than most other Germans. The royal house of ITohenzollern lost all but lVa per cent of its household as well as 48,000,000 marks ($11,000,000) worth of war loan bonds. Os the other reigning houses, that

of Saxony-Weimar and that of Waldeck lost approximately 90 per cent, that of Mecklenburg, 96-99 per cent; that of Schwartzburg, 100 per cent, and those of Saxony-Meiningen and of Hessen also 100 per cent —all these losses having been incurred during the controversies after the revolution. Let a ringle one of the royal families was able to retain more than one-fifth of its property. The prop erty now in" their possession and which the radicals- wish to confiscate represents only a fraction of the 3,000,000,000 marks ($715,000,000) to which the agitators refer —although their reference is unsubstantiated by documentary evidence. According to compromise of October, 1925, the revenue of 20,000 marks (about $5,000) would accrue to each member of the Prussian royal family annually. The pension of many a postrevolutionary cabinet minister exceeds this sum. The distribution of the proposed sums among the Prussian royal family would mean that each inhabitant of Prussia would pay five pfennigs (one cent) a year. Bill Superfluous The dispute about this issue had already been settled almost everywhere. The bill, introduced by the socialists, was superfluous. The confiscation, proposed by the radicals, is simply an Instrument of propaganda. In the ultimate analysis, this proposal merely reveals the fear of the monarchist idea (often misunderstood abroad and yet frequently admired), upon which Germany's greatness was founded. Long after the world forgets tomorrow’s referendum, which I believe will fail to produce the necessary 20,000,000 votes, the castles will continue to tower above their surroundings as monuments to royal civilization. And the foreign visitor will continue to visit Potsdam and the Sans-Souci palace as a tribute to the illustrious Frederick the Great. AUCTION OVER RADIO NEW YORK—The first public real estate auction sale ever to be made over the radio will broadcast from Station WMCA. The radio audience will make their bids by mail.
