HUGE BIOGRAPHY BEINGPREPARED Contains Histories of 20,000 Former Congressmen. lin Timcs^&lhrinl WASHINGTON, June 4—The bli'graphics of 20,000 former Congress/men, representing the entire past membership of the House and Senate, are being embalmed in book form by Ansel Wold, clerk of the joint congressional committee on printing. N Wold has been engaged in his gigantic task for several years and has written thousands of letters and 'made thousands of inquiries. He lias considered it his duty to complete careers of the former members after they left Congress. One of the most interesting careers unearthed by that of Senator James Shields, a native of Ireland, but who represented three States during his career —Illinois, about 1549, then Minnesota, whence he came back to the Senate, and finally California, which State he also represented. Wold also has discovered that former Representative William Crapo of Massachusetts is the oldest lning ex-member of the House. Crapo is 97. He served four years in the House, retiring In 1883, or forty-three years ago.
