PARK BOARD TO GIVE GUT JOBS - Consider List of Recreation Appointments. Park board members will have an opportunity for revenge against Mayor Duvall in consideration of a list of 200 recreation department employes, approved by Duvall and submitted at board meeting Thursday. Board members announced they would consider the list and would hold a special meeting at which the employes would be selected. The large number of jobs in the recreation department are considered by the politicians a3 necessary to reward many minor political workers. The board also ordered J. E. Perry, park board engineer, to prepare plans for Kessler Blvd., following a report from William T. Quillen, recreation department engineer, that George G. Schmidt, city engineer, had again refused to give up original plans * which had been drawn. The board decided to repair Cold at a cost of $12,000. McCormick’s Canyon Trip Suggested A trip to McCormick’s creek Canyon is suggested by the Hoosier Motor Club for those who wish to take an auto trip this week-end. In the State park at the canyon a pool provides bathing for children and experienced swimmers and there are 350 acres of wooded land and a falls for those who admire natural beauty. The route. Leaving Indianapolis go south on Meridian St. to the 1900 block. Turn right on State Rd. 22 and follow same through Waverly to Martinsville. From Martinsville go east and south on State Rd. 12 through Whitaker, Gosport, to Spencer. From Spencer follow State Rd. 32 about three miles to ‘The Canyon’ sign—then left to the park. Distance, fifty-nine miles. Returning one may follow State Rr. 32 through Spencer to Clover dale and on north to the intersection of Rds. 32 ad 3. Turn right on 3 and follow this route to Stilesville, Bridgeport and Indianapolis.
