RABIES BULLETIN IS PREPARED BY HEALTHOFFICIAL Symptoms of Disease Described —Treatment Explained. Owing to the wide prevalence of rabies, a bulletin has been prepared by Dr. William F. King, State board of health secretary, describing the symptoms of the disease in dogs and humans, explaining the treatment and setting out the method of sending the heads of infected dogs to the State laboratories for examination. Some time ago it was recommended by the board that all dogs be muzzled, confined or immunized against the disease and that dogs not so cared for be killed by police authorities. These recommendations were followed by local authorises with the result that the number of vagrant dogs carrying the disease was diminished. Very Restless In the earlier stages of rabies, dogs are very restless and uneasy, the bulletin points out. At first they are constantly mbving about, seemingly discontented. Later they take long journeys, returning much
GOES TO SOURCE OF STOMACH AND KIDNEY TROUBLE Indianapolis Lady Had Great Change in Health After She Got Konjola. "I could notice a change in my condition before all of the first bottle of Konjola was gone, and now, since I have continued with it, this wonderful medicine has done me so much good that I want to recommend it to the other people who are

suffering,” said Mrs. W. J. Gibbens, popular Indianapolis lady, living at 645 North Meridian Street, this city, while talking a few''days ago with The Konjola Man, who is at Hook’s drug store, Pennsylvania and Market Streets, Indianapolis, where crowds are calling daily to find out for themselves about this wonderful medical compound. ‘‘Yes, I know that I can honestly say that Konjola goes right to the source of stomach and kidney troubles, for it certainly did in my case,” Mrs. Gibbons continued. “ I think the worst thing about my condition was the terrible bloating spells I would have. My stomach would seem to swell almost twice it’s normal size, due to the large quantities of gas that accumulated from undigested food. Awful cramping spells would attack me, and everything I ate turned to gas. Night after night I would have to rise from bed and walk the floor for hours trying to get relief. Such quantities of gas would form that I became short winded, and thought I would pass away sometimes, just trying to gasp for breath. "Such things as tomatoes and cabbage, which I like very much, would only be poison to my weak, disordered stomach. I went on a diet of milk and crackers but that even hurt me. Besides, I suffered from dull headaches constantly, and my kidneys were in such sluggish condition that I had pains and aches across my back which lasted for days at a time. My feet and ankles had become swollen so large that I couldn’t lace my shoes. I also was subject to constipation; had to take strong laxatives and cathartics daily, and, due to all of this trouble, I tell you, I was just a nervous wreck. I couldn’t stand for people to be near me at times—that is how nervous I was. "I first heard about Konjola from some friends near Cincinnati and recently I noticed how this medicine was helping people right and left here in Indianapolis. This gave me a great deal of faith in Konjola and I began taking it, - and as I said before,' I noticed a change in my condition before the first bottle was gone. I’ve taken five bottles and my stomach and kidney troubles are completely enSed, excepting a very small amount of gas that really doesn’t give me any discomfort at all. The headaches and cramping spells are gone, and I eVen eat tomatoes and cabbage without any suffering from my stomach. My digestion is just about perfect, and as a result I never become short-winded or bloated up from the gas, and I can sleep all night long without misery of any kind. The swelling in my feet and ankles has gone down to normal, and I haven’t had an ache or pain in my back since the third or fourth day after I got Konjola. The constipation is entirely gone, nerves are improved wonderfully, and’ in short, I really enjoy life because I am out of misery and feel fine in every way—all due to the wonderful effect Konjola had on my whole system. I certainly cannot help but praise this fine medicine to everyone.” The Konjola Man is at Hook’s drug store, Pennsylvania and Market Streets, Indianapolis, where he ;>• daily meeting the public and introducing and explaining the merits of this remedy. worn and emaciated. In the latter stages they usually suffer convulsions and paralysis in the hind quarters and the jaws. The dog, in this condition, often staggers, drawing its hind quarters over the ground and is unable to swallow. It bites with the least provocation and attacks everything in its path. The dog suspected of having rabies should be shut up in a tight pen or tied up with a chain and observed for ten days. If he is alive at the end of the time it is certain that he was not affected with rabies. In case it is necessary to kill the dog, his brain should not be injured. Send to State Board • The head should be cut off with care, packed in ice in a tin can with a tight lid and then packed in another pail containing ice. The lid of the outside pail should be secured and the package sent express prepaid to the State Board of Health Laboratory, 45% N. Capitol Ave., Indianapolis. Under separate cover a letter should, be sent describing the case in detail. If there is any suspicion that a person has been bitten by a rabiesinfected dog, a physican should be called at once and the wound cauterized with nitric acid. There is no danger from saliva from the dog’s mou,th unless there are fresh wounds. Wounds on the face and hands are most dangerous. In any cases of doubt the attending physician should send the patient to the State laboratory for the Pasteur treatment.
