GRAVES OF DEAD J/ER THERE ARE NO! FORGOTTEN Will Be Hidden in Flowers on Memorial Day, Word From Paris. Bv Times Special PARIS, May 28.—The graves of those buddies who died In France will be hidden in flowers this Memorial day. For weeks employes of the Graves Registration Bureau in Paris have been (busy trimming hedges and planting new flowers in the cemeteries at Bony, Romagne* Suresnes and Belleau and all of these resting places of the war dead present a beautiful appearance today. On Sunday trips will be made to each one of them and flowers will be placed on every grave. Decoration‘of all soldiers’ graves, whether his relatives have communicated with the bureau or not, is made possible through two funds. One of these is the interest from the American Legion fund, which this year amounts to $5,932. The ocher is from interest on 74,000 francs which were contributed for war memorial purposes by Americans livr in various parts of Europe. The war cemeteries of France are coming more beautiful each year. The shrubbery is taking size and the cemeteries are losing much of the appearance of newness that they once had. Arrangements are being made to place white stone or a French or Italian marble cross over each grave instead of the wooden oAes which have been there since the war. This w r ork will be completed during the coming summer. About 300 families in the United States have written or cabled special requects for attention to individual graves. Sums of money ranging from $5 to S2O have been received by the registration bureau and each of these has been listed separately in order that the family’s wishes may be carefully carried out.
