BOARD APPROVES LIST OF 1 FOR LIBRARY STAFFS No Mention of Changes in Recommendations for Teachers Made. App,ointment of 140 persons to the public’ library professional staffs recommended by Jlibrarian Charles K. Rush was approved by the school board Tuesday night. The persons "111 be either appointed or reappointed July 1, beginning of the school city's fiscal year. Reappointments are made with graded salary increases provided in the school laws of April 13, 1920. No mention of changes in recommendations of Superintendent K. C. Graff for the appointment of high and grade school teachers was made at the meeting. A crowd of about fifty persons jammed the hot meeting room awaiting action on the teachers’ lists. Investigation of the murder of 10-year-old, Leander Roe of Winslow was resumed by the Pike County grand jury today after a recess of several days. Two persons who disappeared |from Winslow after the boy’s body was found came bark voluntarily and will tell the grand 'jury what they know of the murder, authorities said. The boy’s father. Thomas Roe, and Mrs. Beatrice Bolin, held in jail in connection with the boy’s death, are also expected to be quizzed again. RULES ON STOCK ISSUE Holds Commission Has Authority Over Out-State Property. Attorney General Arthur L. Gilliom has advised the public service commission it has authority over the approval of securities issued by Indiana utilities, even thought some of the proceeds are to be used purchasing property in a neighboring State. The commission raised the question when the Interstate Telephone < 'ompany of Union City proposed to issue $216,000 of stock to purchase the Union Cfty Telephone Company, which has lines extending into Ohio.

Resolution commending the school board for its settlement of the controversy over the new Shortridge High School location was adopted at the Shortridge Parent-Teacher Association's last meeting of the year at Caleb Mills hall, Tuesday night. Resolution addressed to the board follows in part: “The association des.res, to express its appreciation to you 'for tlm harmonious settlement of the question relating to the site and building of the new Shortridge High School. We especially commend the action of members who sacrificed their personal opinion in order to accomplish what seems to be for the public welfare.” The board plans to break ground for the 2,500 capacity. $1,000,000 structure on the Thirty-Fourth and Meridian Sts. site this fall. SUICIDE MOTIVE SOUGHT Woman, Found on Moor, Taken *o Hospital—Man Ssccn leaving. Police today sought an unknown man, thought to be able to supply the motive for the attempted suicide late Tuesday of Mrs. Ethel Woods, who rooms at 917 N. A man had been seen leaving the room a short time before, it was said. Mrs. Woods is said to have two children in the orphans’ home at Knightstown.
