PAVING WORK IN PROGRESS OKU HIES OF ROAD 1 Between Plymouth and Preu —To Be Completed This Fall. Paving’ is in progress practically the entire forty miles between Plymouth ami Peru oil State ltd. 1, with detours marked routing traffic throjigh Rochester, Chili, Denver and Macy. On the north end of this big construction project, separate detours are marked for north and sooth traffic. Completion of this project early this fall will give a continuous ribbon of concrete from Indianapolis to the Michigan and with the exception of short gaps between Seymour and Columbus and a few hundred feet near Speeds in southern Indiana, will provide pavement from Kentucky to Michigan. The commission’s traffic bulletin reflects unusual activity all over the system with paving going* on in. many localities, maintenance work progressing on the entire system, and in several localities surface treatment being made to eliminate the dust nuisance and to act as a binder on stone and gravel surfaces. Surface conditions on roads entering Indianapolis arc set forth in the bulletin as follows: „ Rd- 1 /New Albany, Indianapolis. South bend Michigan line)—Paving from Ply mouth t(> Rochester with separate detours marked for north and south traffic. Closed for fourteen and one-half miles between it, Point just north of Peru to the Miami r ulton County line for paving, detour maraed through Chili. Terre Haute)—Aoount bridge construction traffic is using traction company's bridge at timers Station, ten miles west of Rich blond. Watchmen at east end of bridge and traffic is handled by stop and go signals. Rd. ti (Madison. Greensburg, Indianapolis. Lafayette. Oxford)—Detour marked at two miles north of Lebanon. Short detour two and ono-half miles northwest oi Thomtown. No. I" (Vincennes, Spencer. Indianapolis)—Drive carefully at approaches to temporary bridge at two miles north of Gosport. Rd. 23 (English. Paoli. Bedford. Bloom inpton. Martinsville, Indianapolis)—Closed between Martinsville and Bloomington for paving. Through traffic between Martins ville and Bloomington use Nos. 13 and 33. Use old bridge and old State Rd. 33 across White River about two miles south of Bedford. * Between Paoli and function with Rd. 16 at White Sulphur road Is under construction most of v.a.v. Between Paoli and English traffic take county stone road either by way of Valeene and Marengo or via Young's Creek and Fargo. (Both detours are poor.)
