SHOWS DECREASE IN ENUMERATION IN INDIANAPOLIS Number of School Children Drop 199 Since Last Year’s Report. The annual enumeration of white and Negro children in Indianapolis and Marion County under direction of Lee E. Swails, country school superintendent, shows a decrease of 199 children in Indianapolis since last year. In a report on file in tlie office of Dr. Henry N. Sherwood, ytate superintendent of public instruction, it was disclosed there are 79,108 children in Indianapolis this year as compared to 79,307 for 1933. t The enumeration includes all persons between 6 and -1 years. *1 School officials said the drop in the city enumeration was due to families moving to other cities. Last year there was reported a gain of 005 children. 68,96(5 Attend School Os the total for Indianapolis, 63.966 attend school, 12,0003 are regularly employed and 3,139 are unemployed. While a decrease was reported for Indianapolis, there was an increase in the enumeration in townships outside of Indianapolis. Total was given aCIO.IOS, a gain of 998 over last year . All of the townships, except Decatur which reported a loss of thirty-one children, had an increase over last year. (iain at Beech Drove Total number of children in the nine townships are: Center, outside I ndianaplois, 753; Decatur, 518; Franklin, 692, Lawrence, 897; Derry, 1,765; Pike, 437; Warren, 1,114; Washington, 1,104, and Wayne, 2,828. No Negro children were reported living in Warren township. Tn Beech drove, the numeration showed 702 children, a gain of 80 over 1925. It was reported 609, of this total attend school. In Woodruff Place there was reported to 175 children of which 161 attended school. No Negro children were reported living In Beech Grove or Woodruff Place. The grand total enumeration for the county gave the juvenile total as 90,093, an increase of 1.054 over last year. The enumeration is carried on by a house to house canvass during April. BREAKFAST AT CHURCH Woman’s Missionary Union to Elocf Officers Friday. The Woman’s Missionary Union of the Reformed, Churches of Indianapolis will hold its annual meeting Fiiday at Ht. John’s Reformed Church, Merrill and Alabama Sts. The meeting will open with a breakfast at 11:30 a. in. and will be followed by a business meeting and election of officers. During the aft ernoon ffrogram the Revs. H. V. Shinn, George P. Kohl, L. C. MinHerman and C. J. G. Russom will speak. Mrs. Fred Hoke will speak in the interests of the new south Side Y. W. C. A. Special music will be featured.
