ROAD ABANDONING PLEA MAY MEET STATE OPPOSITION Commission Expected to Recommend That Midland Petition Be Denied. That the Indiana public service commission will recommend to the Interstate Commerce Commission that the Midland Railroad’s petition for abondonment be denied seemed highly probable today. Public Service Commissioner Clyde It. Jones, who this week heard the road’s plea to quit business, will lay the facts obtained in the hearing before the entire State body at a coming conference. From statements made by several others of the Indiana commission it Is in dicated that a protest against abandonment will I>e registered with the Federal body when the evidence is submitted to it for decision. Can File Motions Following completion of the case Wednesday, Jones allowed opponents of the abandonment five days in which to file motions on the finding. One of the motions to bo filed, it is understood, is that the Federal commission deny the petition outright, and the other will suggest that the commission require the sale of the road at junk prices. Each side 'was allowed forty-five days to file briefs in the case. The Midland RailroaH officially (he Central Indiana, extends from

Muncie to Brazil, passing through a rich farming section. Principal objections to abandonment came from farmers, shippers and business men living in towns and cities along the route. Sessation of service, they said, would result in virtual paralysis of industry at these points. Owned by Two Hoads Ownership in the road is vested in the Pennsylvania and Big jFour Railroads. Representatives of the owners declared the Midland had been a losing venture and that the equipment is in such a dilapidated condition as to be worth little more than junk. P. J. Goodrvh, brother of exGovernor James P, Goodrich, and his partner in a number of grain elevators along the line, offered at the hearing to buy the Midland for junk prices and operate it. Other business men are said to be interested in acquiring the line. RABBI WILL SPEAK ‘ln Preparation of Acceptance of Law* Is Subject. LIFE PRISONER FREED Serving Term for Murder He I)id Xot I'onunit, Released. After serving two and one-half years for a murder he did not commit, Coy Gilland today stepped from the gate of the Indiana State Prison a free man, having received an unconditional pardon from Governor Jackson. The pardon exonerated him fully of the murder of Peter Schmidt, Posey County man. Clemency was based on an admission by Harlie B. White, another life prisoner, that Gilland was not even present at the scene of the slaying. The travelers’ tree is a palm, so called because the traveler can get cool water to drink by tapping the base of the leaf stalk.
Had skin trouble so bad was ashamed to appear in public Reeinol completely healed it
"Last summer I had a skin affection on my face, hands and arms. It kept spreading until H could not shave
and hated to be seen in public. The itching was very annoying and nothing I tried gave me any relief. A friend recommended your Resinol Ointment and I bought some at once.
*•" or vurr”??-
The first application gave me relief, but I continued using it freely and in a very short time the itching disappeared and the trouble was completely cured. Needless to say, I have great faith in “Resinol" for skin disorders.” (Signed) J. E. Ketterman, Entriken, Pa., March 4. —A dvortisoinr nt.
