Low bids on twenty-one bridges in eleven counties, opened Wednesi day by the State highway commission, fell $55,814.46 under the engineers’ estimate of $371,355.51, a tabulation showed today. The saving, as in work, will be used toward the completion of tentative projects. The savings in paving work will enable the commission to pave possibly fifty miles more road than was expected. A delegation from Elkhart and Ivosciucko Counties offered to bear 25 per cent of the cost of improving State ltd. 27 if the commission approves concrete instead of bituminous pavement. An Orange County delegation asked the commission to pave State ltd. 22 near Orleans and in*Johnson County group asked that State ltd. 1 be paved through Edinburg.
