SYSTEMATIC HUNT FOR RUM-POURING PRISONERSTARTS Escaped From Federal Bldg. —Last of Squibb Liquor Dumped in Sewer. Systematic search for Charles O. Douglas, 23, former clerk at the Illinois and South Sts. postoffico substation, who escaped Tuesday while sidinK In the destruction of $300,000 worth of \V. P. Squibb & Cos. whisky in the Federal Bldg., was started today by Federal marshals and postal inspectors. Douglas was arrested recently by Postal Inspector William O. Ela for mail theft, and had been held in Marion County jail pending court action. Authorities Notified Cincinnati authorities were notified of his escape Wednesday. Bulletins have been sent throughout the country asking Federal officials to aid in Douglas’ capture. He is charged with stealing railroad tickets from the mails. At 4:40 p. m. Wednesday the cork was removed from the last bottle of the Squibb liquor. The bottle was held high above the sink, in the second floor liquor room, and the mellow whisky was allowed to trickle, unhindered, down the sewer. Last “Good” Whisky It was the last bottle of the only “good” whisky in Indiana, according to A. R. Harris, deputy Federal prohibition administrator. With the pouring completed, it was learned that the investigation of the 330 missing cases will continue and that other developments are exepcted. INTOXICATION CHARGED Motorist Held \fter Show Window Glass Is Broken. 11. II Hooker, 29. of 915 E. Twenty-Second St., early today was charged with driving while intoxicated. State Policeman Bridges said he arrested Hooker after a plate glass show window at the Oilar Furniture Company, 231 Massachusetts Avc.. was broken. It was valued at $ 151.
