DUVALL VETOES - CEMETERY BILL Ask Mayor to Kill Ordinance. The of public disapproval today was ascribed as the cause for 111© change of heart of four city councilmen who backed down Tuesday in their effort t# repeal part of the city zoning ordinance with another ordinance to allow establishment of a cemetery on Kessler Blvd. near Broadmoor Country Club. By steam roller Aethods, Councilmen Dorsett, Moore. Todd, Ferguson and Bartholomew passed the ordinance last Thursday', three days after it was introduced. Tuesday they backed down, asking Mayor Duvall for its return. The city legal department said if it was duly passed it could not be returned. So they prevailed upon Duvall to veto the measure. Explaining their attitude, the couneilmen declared inquiry had revealed the purpose of the Mt. Moriah Cemetery Association, in behalf of which they passed the ordinance, “is primarly for the purpose of selling securities."
