INVESTIGATION OF DRY FUND ASKED Anti-Trust Prosecutions Halted, Charge. Tin Timex special WASHINGTON. May 10—The Senate Judiciary subcommittee has lieen asked by wet groups to sub■poena Wayne B. Wheeler, general •counsel <>£ the Anti-Saloon League; John D, Rockefeller ,1 r. and Judge Elbert H. Gary of the I'nited States Steel Corporation and question them regarding the source of funds used in dry propaganda. This request is made in a voluminous statement by the joint legislative committee of the A. F. of L., the association against the prohibition amendment, the Constitutional Liberty League of Massachusetts and the Moderation League. “Let us have the whole story of prohibition propaganda and prohibition politics as well as the sordid story of prohibition itself,” the statement declares, adding that after big business joined the Anti-Saloon League forces, anti-trust prosecutions suddenly ceased. “Through their identification with the committee of bne thousand for law enforcement, it appears that Rockefeller and Judge Gary are very • keen for the enforcement of the prohibition law, and Judge Gary’s interest might further be illustrated by tha fact that he continues to pay the salary of one of his railroad ofiicials who is now serving as a prohibition administrator,” the wet statement said. HURT IN FALL Mrs. Mary McGuire, 40, of Pittsburgh, Pa., is at the Methodist Hospital today suffering from injuries received when she fell or leaped from a second-story window at the sanitarium operated by Miss Minnie Waymier, 3547 E.' Washington St., Sunday night. An attending physician stated the injuries are serious. Lost His Rheumatism and Stomach Trouble ' Says He Never Has a Hit of It Now. Suffered for 30 Years. “I had stomach trouble for 30 years. My stomach wmuld bloat and cramp. The gas would crowd back my heart, and the pains were awful. My appetite was poor and I had to watch what I ate all the time. 5 also had rheumatism in my right leg below the knee, and my ankle swelled up so I could hardly walk. Nothing I would take did me any good. Then I heard of Vluna and bought a bottle, and right from tho first I felt better. Now I feel fine. My stomach trouble is all gone. No gas, none of that bloating, and 1 can eat anything and plenty of it. My rheumatism is gone, doesn’t pain or swell at all, and my leg is as good as it ever was. My weight was formerly 140 pounds, and now I weigh 157 pounds, a gain of 17 pounds. I lay my present state of good health to Vluna.”—Harvey Knox, Route 2, Gaston, Ind. Vluna acts promptly on sluggish bowels, lazy liver and weak kidneys. It purities the blood, clears the skin, restores appetite and digestion, and brings new strength and energy to the whole body. Take a bottle on trial. Then if you're not glad you tried Vluna, your money will be refunded. $1 at druggists, or mailed postpaid by Iceland Medicine ; Cos., Indianapolis, Ind. Puzzle a Day

K — J BROKEN PANE Fj a

A tanker of oil exploded in Beaumont (Texas) harbor, and 90,000 barrels of oil were destroyed. The explosion was so violent that it smashed window panes for miles around. And pqor George Dane, who had just had the glass in his leaded front door repaired, found that the explosion had broken the same panes. Twelve panes out of the thirty-six were broken. Every row up or down had two broken panes. If you counted the broken panes diagonally no more than two in any row were broken. Here is a sketch of the windows showing the onlybroken pane of the fancier four central panels. Can you locate the eleven other broken panes? I.ast puzzle answer: The easiest way to solve the Mother’s day puzzle is to work it backwards. Tho known number in tho puzzle is 48. If 6 is subtracted from 48 it will leave 42. This quantity Is twice as many more, arid onehalf as many more than the actual amount. The actual amount is 1. This added to 213 is 3i; 42 therefore equals 3!£ times the actual amount. Dividing you get 12 or the actual number of children the old lady had.
