The deciphered tag reads as follows: F*irst line $140.34; second line $10.15; third line, $150.49. ($140.34 plus $10.15 equals $150.49). “Y” stands for 4 as was stated in the puzzle. By analyzing the tag you notice, throe “D’s” in a row. “D" is therefore easy to guess as 0 for 0 is the only numeral which added to Itself equals itself. “X plus C” equals 4 and by elimination can only be 3 plus 1 since the other two combination (2 plus 2 or 4 plus 0) axe impossible.

* In at least one particular the American people have changed but little in the last fifty years. The instinct to own a home is as strong as it was fifty years ago, when men and women braved dangers and hardships to settle these fertile plains. Home then meant a rude frame shanty, placed on the naked plains without protection from the heat of summer sun or the bitter Cold of winter’s blast. Today it generally signifies comfortable dwellings, with most of the modern conveniences of life, ’with beautiful trees and well kept grounds. Now, as then, the word “home” carries more happy blessed associations than any other in the English language with the sole exception of mother and father. Happy homes mean happy faces—happy hearts —•
