THE SECRET OF SUCCESS TOLD BY THE REV. FACKLER Lutheran Pastor Preaches Big Sermon on Vital Subject. “lie that would he successful should not be a coward," the Rev. D. C. E. Faekler, pastor of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, said Sunday In preaching on “The Secret of Success.” “There are many who want to be successful but there are very few who are willing to pay the price," the Rev. Faekler said. “The Israelites wanted to kill the giant, but they were afraid to meet him. For forty days the giant defied the Israelites. They wanted to be successful but were afraid to meet their opposition. “When the soldiers of the Israelites came into camp they did not wanted to make it appear as if they were cowards. They questioned one another about this giant that defied Irael and said he must be slain. There were others that nodded assent but none volunteered to do the work. “The soldiers reminded one another of the great reward that was offered. They would like to have laid claim to this reward, but they were cowards. “There was one that appeared in the camp who when hearing the arguments questioned the soldiers about the reward. The men of war seemed to he excited over the lad in shepherd’s clothes; they knew that there was someone that was willing, but for themselves they were cowards. David was fired with holy indignation. “He said, shall we permit this uncirmuslsed gentile to make light of

Here are two word diamonds joined by a ten-letter horizontal word. Each'star represents a missing letter. When completed the diamonds will contain eleven words. Following are definitions of all words running vertically. Left to right—To rent, yawned, lair; sailor, pertaining fib punishment, and to perform. Can you complete the diamonds? Last puzzle answer: Mr. Elkins is 101 years old today, therefore he must have been 100 years old last year. At the time the farm hand, John, was first hired he (John) was 18 years old and Mr. Elkins was three times as old, or 54 years old. There is 36 years difference in their ages. Last year John was 54 years old, or as old as Mr. Elkins was when he first hired him. us, to challenge the army of the living God. This affront offered to them reflected upon God and that David could not bear. He would not let the name of the Lord be insulted. Fear of Jealousy “He that would thus in the name of the Lord be successful will have much jealousy thrust upon him. David’s brother Eliab was angry and thought that David was forsaking his duty and that he came only out of curiosity. Wrath is cruel, anger is outrageous, but who can stand before envy and jealousy. “The sin of jealousy rolls many obstacles before the feet of those who are climbing to success. Jacob suffered envy of Esau, Joseph endured the jealousy of his hrothers. David surmounted the jealousy of Eliab. “Jealousy can hinder one's success, it can increase trouble and turn your best friends against you, it wells forth from the souls that frequently seem to be your best friends. He that would be successful must not be discouraged by the jealousy in others, and, like David, look to God for strength, that their souls might not be stained with such sin. Good Advice “David gave good advice to the king. He said let no man's heart fail because of this great man, trust in God and He will bring it to pass. Big qpposition is overthrown by a little breath from the Almighty. “Ho that would have courage established in his soul should be convinced first of the might of the Almighty, and the truthfulness of the promise, 'Lo I am with you always,’ ’Let not your hearts be troubled.’ “David left the king, rejected the offer of a coat of mail and went forth guided by the hand of God and protected by His might. This is the secret of real success," the Rev. Faekler said.
