May 3.—Riitain’s impending general strike was felt here today in till stock and bond exchanges, especially tlie stock market, where prices were depressed in every section of the list, losses ranging up to more than 5 points. Trading was on a slightly larger scale Ilian tho last week in April, hut the total was well under 2,000,000 as contrasted with the large days in March. Rails, oils, utilities, motors, steels and specialties, were under selling pressure with losses coming in big jumps. Such issues as General Electric, Hudson, Mack, American Smelting, Atlantic Retining, Woolworth, Du I’ont and Southern Railway, were among the worst losers. Money ruled at 3',2 per cent and indications were that funds would lend out at a smaller rate unless the British situation interferred. All matured porkers under 200 pounds were 15 to 25 cents lower, while all over 200 pounds were fully steady with prices quoted Saturday. Light receipts were estimated at 3,500 porkers, and 258 hogs were held over from the week-end trading period. The light receipts, coupled with a heavier demand for heavyweight material, combined to keep these grades unchanged. Light stuff commanded the top price of 513.75, and the bulk of the matured hogs were sold at prices ranging from 513 to $13.75, llog Price Scale Trading was done over the following range of values: Heavyweight material brought 512.n0(f713.25; mediums were 513.25(5' 13.75; light hogs commanded a price of 513.75; light lights were the same, at $13.75; pigs were also $1.3.50© 13.75; smooth packing sows cashed at $11.50n'11.75; rough packing sows moved at $10.75 @11.25, and stags were sß<gll.
