BRIGHT SILK BAND FOR HAT, NEW NOTE Should Prove Popular With Young Men, Haberdashers Say—Solid Color Ties Favored This Spring.
A comparatively new creation in t parts, which smacks of the Far East, of India and of Persia soon will be introduced to Indianapolis “best dressers,’’ local merchants say. fb i Pusrree hat band is the inovation and although old for some, no doubt it will prove popular with the young men, haberdashers say. The Pugree is a wilde, brightly colored, piece of silk, bunched together and wrapped around the hat. A little twist on one side takes the place of the conventional bow. For Drop Brim Style Merchants have warned against the wearing of the band on stiff brim hats. But the Pugree may be worn jauntily on a snap brim style or a crush hat. A few of the local shops are displaying the new style now', and later on, as color blends are worked out, the creation will become more popular, it is thought. Colors are chosen to match the hat. Another spring style is the solid color cravat. Green, brown, blue

and red, are the outstanding shades and they often have a delightful and delicate shading to replace striking designs. Here again the freedom allowed the man in selecting his ties of solid color often causes his downfall, merchants say. All too numerous are the youths strolling the streets wearing, for instance, gray ties with gray suits. A good tie and a beautiful suit are ruined, as one of them appears “dirty” and weak toned. Brown and blue suits take their own colors, providing the shade of the cravat is vivid. Several displays of red ties with dark bine suits have been made. From Pails New offerings in cravats from Paris also are shown at local stores. The innovations might be a. trifle expensive fW the average man or college boy, but the wearer will be repaid in added service and distinctiveness, merchants say. The new tie has nq lining such as is found in the American makes, and is not machine made. The piece of silk is laid out and cut,, and one piece of silk lining of a differefit color is sewed into the material. Tt is then folded and hand-stitched. It will not wrinkle. Many beautiful Persian designs that rival rare paintings by old masters oan be obtained. With each inspection the tie assumes different tones. The neckwear never loses its snap. Fashion dictators believe the new styles will take the fancy of the men because they allow a greater range in selecting blends of the basic colors and more freedom in the shading of the delicate pastels.
