SIX CANDIDATES HEARD AT I. D. Senatorial Aspirants Speak at Democratic Rally. RU United Preen BLOOMINGTON, Ind., April 22. Six candidates for the Democratic long term senatorial nominating spoke Wednesday night at a rally of Monroe County Democrats and Indiana University students here. With the exception of William Curry of Indianapolis, who came out for modification of the Volstead law. the prohibition issue was not mentioned. Other speakers dismissed farm relief, tariff and economic quetions. It was the first time during the campaign that all of the candidates have spoken at the same gathering. The candidates were: William A. Cullop, Vincennes; John Frederick, Kokomo; George Bauch, Marlon; Albert Stump, L. Frt Slack and William Curry, all of Indianapolis. Evans Woollen, Indianapolis, was the only candidate not present. Dean Paul V. McNutt of the Indiana Law School, represented him. South Bend is rivalling Kokomo as a mecca for candidates. Ward B. Hiner, G. O. P. short-term candidate, flaunted Volstead modification banners from his unique campaign bus here Wednesday and Arch G. Graham, another short-term candidate, will deliver his keynote address in this, his home town Friday night. Meanwhile, local managers are urging Senator James E. Watson to come here.

Conversion of the north part of the courthouse yard into a parking place and removal of fruit and vegetable stands from the sidewalks about the city market were deemed likely today following a campnin of the board of safety and county commissioners. George G. Schmidt, city engineer, is preparing estimates for covering the courthouse lawn with gravel, and city councilmen plan a special session to adopt the ordinance clearing the market sidewalks. Removal of boxes and barrels from the “sidewalks along "commission row” on S. Delaware St., will be Included.
