LUMBER MEN TO ADVERTISE ►Plan to Combat Inroads of Substitutes. Jill Time* Srtrdnl ATLANTIC CITY, April 18. •Plans to spend a million dollars in advertising to combat the inroads which substitutes are making in the lumber business will be made at the convention of the National-American Wholesale T.umber Association at the Ambassador Hotel here April 15 to 17. While charts show that as the volume of construction and other ordinary sources of lumber consumption have increased, the demand for lumber, relatively speaking, has decreased, according to W. W. Sehupner of New- York, secretary-directing manager of the association. Wilson Compton, secretary of the National Lumber Manufacturers' Association, will present the subject and ask for cooperation in raising the money for this advertising.
