CITY GROWS 3 PER CENT EVERY YEAR Should Reach 1,000.000 in 34 Years, Says Fletcher American President. Indianapolis Is growing at the rate of 3 per con* an filially in population ami, if this rate is maintained, will have a population of 1,000,000 in thirty-four years. Tliis statement was made today, following iho opening of Indianapolis’ fifth annual Home Complete exposition at. the State fairground, V>y George C. Forrey, Fletcher American Company president. Forrey said the statistics were obtained from the Indiana University Business Reserve Bureau. Forrey said a general survey of 1 w enty-flve 1 cpresentative r-ities show it takes a city about thirty-five years 1i grow from n population of 330,000 to i.onn.ono. Only Four Cities Ahead "Only four cities have shown an increase in population as great a. Indianapolis," lie declared. "These are Petroit, Cleveland, Bos Angeles and Rochester, N. Y. Wage earnings and their increases in Indianapolis are among the points which make this city a better place in which to reside, it was pointed out. "There, are only three cities in the representative group that show a faster increase of wage earning than Indianapolis,” Forrey stated. "These are Portland, Bos Angeles and Detroit. Out of the twenty-five largest cities in the country only five have a lower tax burden per capita than Indianapolis." Rank Deposits Increase r.ank deposits in eighteen of the largest banks here increased 19 per cent in 19115 over 1923. Post office receipts have increased 13 per cent, in these two years, he said. "Building permits have continued at a level in excess of .125,000,000 annually,” Forrey pointed out. In 1925 the total was $26,674,000. The first two months of this year showed a 21 per cent increase over the like months of last year. Building permits in 1925 showed an increase of 2 pi per cent in value over those of •19 1-1. 'it is possible to estimate the ; elation of Indianapolis this year measurable accuracy. The ,'jl: tiun is now 375,000. This ii; ; that the population has Increased since 1920, at an undimlnsited rate of 3 per cent a year.” If the rate continues the population will increase 11,250 during the yen r. "Indianapolis has 2.500 more homes occupied now than a year ngo,”' Forrey said. "There also are 1,044 more offices and places of. business in operation now.”

SALE OF SOOTH SIDE TRACT TO START APRIL 15 Canby Place Name of New Addition Containing 345 Home Sites. With the announcement of the i, I on ing soon of Canby Place, 65-acre Fact of ground, south of English \ve., between Keystone Ave. and Knral St., the old Canby farm, long ! iTcring resistance to the encroaching demands of the city, passes Into , I.livion. This tract, originally a i 'nitod States land grant in 1838 to a man named Canby, has been a part , t' the Joson and Noble estates, owners for nearly a century. The new subdivision, containing ,15 home sites, was probably the largest remaining unimproved tract !if ground close to the heart of Indianapolis. being but. a few minutes’ ride from the downtown district on the Prospect or F.ngllsh cars- By automobile the addition is easily reached over Southeastern and Keystone Aves. To the stranger coming suddenly upon Canby Place, its acreage presents the appearance of a suburban addition transplanted within the limits of the city. While embodying many of the desirable advantages of a suburban tract, the addition has none of the disadvantages, as modern conveniences are at hand. The scores of lots bordering on Eng lish and Keystone Aves. have all municlpol Improvements, while the lots in the Interior have easy access to the same. The new Pleasant Run Blvd. passes through the southern part of the tract. Schools and churches are in the Immediate vicinity. According to L. P. Davis, formerly with the real estate department of the Fletcher Savings and Trusi Company, In charge of developing the t’-act, such building restrictions will La Imposed so as to insure the construction of attractive, well-built homes. Davis will atart the sale of lots April 16. The Meyer-Kiser Bank will act as trustee and collection i.cent.

WINDOW SASH DEVICE SHOWN Invention of Local Men on Market Here. New device for operating windows without use of saali cord and weights, known as the Hoosier Sash Holder, Is being shown at the fifth Home Complete Exposition. It was recently Invented by F. Howard Stowell. civil engineer, and Herman H. Glck, a physician, both of Indianapolis. The Hoosier Sash Holder Company of this city Is manufacturing the device and the George W. Fife Equipment Company, Merchants Fank Bldg., is the Indiana distributor. Windows are held securely in any position by the sash holder. The holder is invisible after the window is placed in the frame. With the use of the holder windows can not rattle and break and the elimination of cords and weights Is one of the valuable features of the invention. Successful demonstrations of the sash holders have been made In residences. apartments, hotels, hospitals and office buildings throughout the country. IS NOT PROMOTIONAL ♦ The Home Complete Exposition, according to Director J. F. Cantwell, Is not a promotional enterprise further than to foster and develop the desire for home ownership. For those who own their homes already, many new appliances and homey thlngk of great Interest, calculated to Improve the home, are exhibited.
