BANS POSTER BOARD BEAUTY LO.S ANGELES, April 9.—Los Angeles Will no longer be glorified in its signboard advertising by artistic roadway portraits of the one-piece bath.ng beauty. For years, from I/Os Angeles to Salt Lake, and Ti Juana to Vancouver, the Chamber of Commerce has enticed tourists to southern Cali fomia with the signboard bathing beauties. But mere words, hereafter, will bear the burden of broadcasting the insidious and seductive lure of Los Angeles and its climate. The welfare committee of the city council has ordered the bathing beauties erased from all Los Angeles billboards. Hundreds of signpainters have been dispatched to various cross-roads and highway locations to daub word pictures over the artistic forms of the bill-board bathing beauties. The committee, charged with responsibility for the moial welfare of Los Angeles and community, not to mention its reputation with tourists, decided a bathing girl was not commensurate with charm and dignity of California’s noted southland.
