COUNCIL G.O.P. GROUP SPLITS Two Vote for Resolution on I Barrett Law. The split in the city council Republican majority was clearly manifest a.t a meeting Monday night when Councilmen O. Ray Albertson, and Claude E. Negley voted for the Raub resolution designed to suppress the practice of Marion County treasurers pocketing $50,000 annually in Barrett law fees. Investigation by the corporation council is provided for in the resolution. A tie vote resulted, but Councilman Edward B. Raub announced he would renew his attempt at next meeting. Councilman Millard W. Ferguson voted for the resolution, while Councilmen Boynton J. Moore, Walter R. Dorsett, Austin H. Tood and Otis E. Bartholomew, were against it. Council authorized a loan of $210,000 to pay bills bequeathed by the Shank administration. A resolution asking that the SIOO,OOO the city has received as its share of the State gasoline tax be turned over to the street commissioner to repair a.nd resurface streets was introduced. LIQUOR CHARGE TERM Man Arrested for Speeding-—Alcohol Found in Rear of Car. Judge James A. Collins Monday afternoon fined Alexander Geisking, &3, of 1350 S. Belmont Ave., SIOO and costs and sentenced him to four months on the Indiana State farm on a liquor charge. The officer who arrested Geisking for speeding testified he found forty gallons of alcohol in the rear of Geisking's car. Geisking denied any knowledge of it.

FRATERNITY HEAD TALKS Kappa Sigma State Banquet Is Held at Lincoln. W. W. Wyckoff of New York, worthy grandmaster of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity, was the principal speaker at the annual tSate banquet of the organization Monday night at the Lincoln. Judge Julius C. Travis of the Indiana Supreme Court presided. Robert Cook of Indiana University; Robert Belzer of Purdue University, and C. M. Bolser of Wabash College spoke on activities at their schools. PIONEER’S SON DEAD Word has been received here of the death, Friday, of Phillip Tousey, former Indianapolis resident, while playing golf at New Orleans, La. He was Standard Oil traffic manager. Tousey was the grandson of the late George Tousey, Indianapolis pioneer.
