LOVE IS GREAT RULING FACTOR IN ALL LIFE The Rev. Line Preaches Powerful Easter Sermon. “Today the world is alive with melody of song,” said the Rev. Fred A. Line of the Central Uni verbalist Church on Easter Sunday morning. “A thousand voices proclaim that God is love.” the Rev. Line said. We look through the gates of love into the heavens of peace and joy and in another Easter season we rest our vision upon the stars toward which a whole world is moving in thought and life. “We hear the welcome message, Christ is risen and with it comes the blessed knowledge that there is no death. The stone is rolled a.way from the tomb and the song of the angels resound upon its wall. "Love isthe great ruling principle of life. Because of love man is divine. Because love is at the heart of this old world of ours we strive on in the work which is ours to accomplish, moving slowly but surely toward the day of love s more divine fulfillments. Love Is Powerful "Love is all-powerful and eternal. The conquests of life are the conquests of love. Why has Dr. Grenfell with such heroism been doing the Master’s work in Labrador? Because his heart is filled with a great love for his fellowmen and he is endeavoring to express that love in service. “Why has Judge Ben Lindsey persevered in liis service for the boys and girls of Denver, extending his Influence to all the great cities of our nation? Because he sees the man in the hoy, and out of love serves the coming generation. “Paul could say, and now abldeth faith, hope, love, these three, but the greatest of these is love, because he had experienced in his own heart love’s larger victory. Why are men and women in every walk of life sacrificing, suffering, struggling against the forces of evil for the triumph of the right in human hearts and lives? “Because they have caught the spirit of a great love, and are living to exemplify it’s principles that the world may be blessed of it’s fruits. Every great achievement of the world has been bom of love. Moreover, every quickening of the spirit, every renewed consecration of the heart and life to a great purpose, a great service, means' another victory of love in human experience. The Great Comforter "Love is the great comforter. Sorrow lays its hand upon God’s child. The mother gives her little one into keeping of one who said ‘suffer the little children and forbid them not to come unto me, for of such is the kingdom of Heaven.’ "We see the young man or the young woman called from the midst of life’s labors to enter into the service of another realm of light and life. The aged friend and loved one passes beyond the sunset to share in the beauty and blessing of another morning’s sunrise. We stand by the open grave with saddened hearts and ask ourselves why and wherefore? But even as we grieve love whispers to. our soul and we lift our eyes to rest our vision upon the stars. “We know tliat these loved ones are not dead, but only gone before to, live out their lives amid the blossoming flowers of God’s otherwhere. "The Easter lilies tell us a story of victory. Jesus has risen. He lives today in your heart and mine, and in the world’s growing life. Even so, the dear ones who once walked by our side and made bright our homes, but who now smile upon us from other worlds are yet with us, helping, blessing, inspiring us as we journey along life’s way. And in this blessed thought we find com-

At the Luther Burbank flower farm, flowers of all varieties are crossed and improved upon in an endeavor to grow more beautiful blossoms. This spring one section of nine beds is to be devoted to purple and black double pansies. Each bed is to be planted with a .different type of especially crossed seeds. And to enable Mr. Burbank to obtain the most nearly perfect flower every type of seed is numbered, and every bed is numbered accordingly. After he had planted seeds number eleven, the gardener was called away, but he left his planting chart. According to this chart the seeds are to he planted so that no two rows of three-seed numbers shown above (down, across or diagonally) give the same total. Can you complete the planting of the flower beds. Last puzzle answer: Here is the note as Mrs. Daley should have written it, "Please save twelve dyed Easter eggs for my children. I have sold all mine.” Obviously the note must have contained some reference to Easter eggs. Find this first. Then start at the first word and join letters until you form a word, do the same with the next group of letters, and also the next. When you have discovered the first five words, the rest will come easily, fort, by the drawing force of love’s glorious ideals we are lifted Heavenward. * “Love is the gateway to Heaven,” the Rev. Line said. HOPE OF IMMORTALITY Candidate Tells Class Belief of Eternal Life Has Sustained Man. Through “the ages man has been sustained through the ho]>e of immortality, Claris Adams, candidate for the Republican long-term senatorial nomination, said in an Easter address Sunday before the Christian Men Builders Biblq. class of the Third Christian Church. "Somehow man instinctively knows that this little body of clay of ours is not merely for this earth alone,” Adams said. "Somewhere we know that life is eternal. We should have hell on earth indeed if there were nothing beyond this life.”

SUPPORT ASKED FOR RADIO BILL Legislation Offers Copyright Solution. With hearings before the joint Senate and House patent committees opening today, officials of The National Association of Broadcasters are calling listener’s attention to the importance of the DillVestal copyright bill, which is said to offer a solution of the copyright music problems of the broadcasters of America. Paul B. Klugh, executive chairman of the broadcasters’ association, in an address over WEAF just a week before the hearings, pointed out some of the inequalities of the present situation and explained tlie position of the broadcaster as regards the new bill. "Broadcasters are in favor of paying for the use of copyrighted music,” he explained, “but see no reason why this payment should be made exclusively to those publishers and writers, who belong to a single organization. We realize there is much musical genius in the United States which needs encouragement, and therefore are desirous of paying every copyright owner, whether a member of the association or not.” An appeal to listeners to write the members of the House and Senate Committees was Included in the talk. The Dill-Vestal bill is designed to provide for equitable payment to the owner of musical copyrights, stations of similar power and location paying the same rate. Albert H. Vestal of Indiana is chairman of the House Patent Committee.
ADAMS FIRES NEW VOLLEY Says G. 0. P. Organization Is Not Watson’s Property. “Hundreds of Republicans have expressed the opinion it is time to impress upon Senator James E. Watson that the Republican organization is not his personal property,” Claris Adams, candidate for the Republican long-term senatorial nomination, said at a meeting at his headquarters, 919 Lemcke Bldg., Sunday. The political deals Senator Watson has negotiated will lie the subject of a number of addresses during this fourth week of his campaign, according to Adams. The candidate will deliver a nonpartisan address at Crothersville tonight and will speak at a political meeting at Noblesville, Tuesday night. Allen County Republicans will entertain Adams Thursday and an address at night in Ft. Wayne is scheduled. IN COLLEGE COMEDY Miss Virginia McConnell Has Tart in Drake Show.
