SHANK STANDS UP FOR ADAMS former Mayor Calls Watson ‘Cloakroom Jim.’ You ain’t heard nothin’ yet. This in effect was the reply today of former Mayor Lew Shank to those who have criticised Claris Adams, candidate for the long term Republican senatorial nomination, for drawing attention to the record of his opponent, Senator James E. Watson. The ex-mayor said he would stump the State for Adams and tell the boys all about "Watson. “Why, my name for Watson is ‘Cloakroom Jim,’ ’’ said Shank in his announcement. “The cloakroom is where the timid Senators hide when a vote on a ticklish question is threatened. “And Watson would have been in the cloakroom on that world court vote if he had had a chance. Jim has passed that sack of peanuts to the farmers and maybe a few bags of popcorn to the laboring men for thirty years.” RELIGION TO THE PEOPLE Clergymen Not to Require Them to “Call and Get It.” Bn United Press CHICAGO, March 30. —Religion will be carried to the people in Chicago this summer, rather than be held for the people to “call and get it,” it w r as announced today. INDIANA WOMEN BUYS TO MEET Conventions to Be Held in Thirty States. Bn Times Special WASHINGTON, March 30.—Conventions in thirty States, Indiana included, will be held by women favoring national dry law observance, coincident with the meeting of the Women’s National committee for law enforcement here, April 11 to 13. An energetic offensive against modification of the “dry” law will be begun. Mrs. Henry W. Peabody, national chairman, said today the meetings will extend as far west as California,

Among the speakers will be Gen. Lincoln C. Andrews, Admiral Dillard, head of the Coast Guard, Senator Morris Sheppard of Texas, author of the Eighteenth amendment, Representative Hudson of Michigan.
