DEFENDANTS Indictments Returned in Criminal Court by Grand Jury. Fourteen men were named defenants in eight indictments returned in Criminal Court by the county g-rknd jury. Defendants and charges faced are: Gerald Myers, Karl Badgley, Joseph Lu Hay, John Steddenbentz, Cloyd Wishmire, Joe Walsh, Delivin Warren and Maurice Dooeh, vehicle taking. A committee of Negroes is planing a musical revue April 22 at Cadle to raise funds to equip a band at the Colored Orphan's Home. Out of town musicians will participate. FREDRICK AT PERU Urges Exploitation of State’s Natural Resources. BU United Press PERU, lad., March 26.—Exploitation of the natural resources of the State and Nation were urged in an address here by John Fredrick of Kokomo, Democratic candidate for the long term senatorial nomination. EYE GREATEST APPEAL Simple Advertisements Are Urged by Club Speaker. E. D. Gibbs of Dayton, Ohio, advertising director of the National Cash Register Company, gave an address on "The Kind of ’Advertising That Gets Across” at the Claypool Thursday. “Make your advertisement simple. Remember that your greatest appeal probably will come through the eye, and don’t tire the eye with a lot of matter. No advertisement is big enough for two major ideas,” he said. Gibbs pointed out the three avenues to the mind are writing, talking and printing. He insisted advertisers should seek to utilize all three avenues. OGDEN AT LEBANON Makes Plea for Political Courses in High Schools. Bn United Press LEBANON, Ind., March 26. James M. Ogden, president of the Indianapolis Bar Association, in an address here, made a plea for political courses in the high schools of the State. He declared that increasing emphasis on all phases of citizenship should be given by the schools.

C(jMPANY TO APPEAL Damages Awarded Widow of ExPoliceman, Alleged Bootlegger. Walter G. Todd, attorney for the Midland Casualty Company, today said he would appeal the verdict of a jury returned in Superior Court Five, Wednesday, awarding $4,000 damages to Mrs. L. B. Lucas, widow of James A. Lucas, former policeman and alleged bootlegger. Mrs. Lucas charged the amount was due her on an insurance policy taken out by her husband in the company.
