NEW ILLINOIS BUILDING OPEN |flany Persons Visit Office Structure. Thousands of persons visited the new Illinois Bldg., Illinois and Market Sts., formally opened today. The ten-story structure, which cost $1,200,000, marks another step in the development of modern office and business buildings. The building embodies not only utilitarian features, but a classical Grecian design. It was designed by Rubush & Hunter, local architects. The William P. Jungclaus Construction Company was general contractor. A row of huge bronze exterior lanterns graces the building above the street level. A polished granite far cade which extends three floors from the sidewalk is used as a background. MAHOLM OPENS HEADQUARTERS Lawyer Seeks Criminal Judgeship Nomination. T. Ernest Maholm, Republican candidate for nomination for crimlinal judge in the primary, May 4, loday opened his campaign headquarters on the eleventh floor of the Odd Fellow Bldg. Maholm maintains law offices on the sixth floor. Maholm announced that the Rev. Charles P. Martin, evangelist and farmer pastor of Brookside U. B. Church, is his manager. He will be assisted by Edward Mcßride, former city recreation director, who will serve as organization manager. Maholm said an advisory committee of 100 men and women headed by the Rev. L. P. Cooper, pastor of Calvary U. B. Church, will help in forwarding his campaign. Mrs. Mary E. Wheatley assisted by Mrs. Blanche Eads, head the women's division and Harry J. Sanders, the men’s division. SEVEN-YEAR LICENSE The Michigan Automotive Trade Association has indorsed the plan Os having the State issue seven-year license plates for motor vehicles. This will do away with the annual change of license now required.

TWO UTILITIES SOLD Ohio Firm Buys Richmond and Terre Haute Plants. BU litilted Press RICHMOND, Ind., March 25. — Purchase of the Richmond, Light Heat and Power Company and the [ Citizens Gas" and Fuel Company of Terre Haute by the Gas Utilities, Incorporated of Columbus, Ohio, was announced today. Two weeks ago the utilities were purchased from local owners by the Empire Company of New York, which negotiated the latest transfer. APPEAL MADE TO JURORS Clemency Sought for Man Serving Life Term. SOUTH BEND, Ind., March 25. The twelve jurors who found Jack Wright guilty of the murder of Henry Muesel and J<jhn Clirobot in 1925, today were in receipt of letters urging that they aid in obtaining a pardon for the man.
