MA FERGUSON NOT WORRIED > OVER CAMPAIGN Burden of Race for Re-elec-tion Falls on Husband Jim. Bn Times Suecial DALLAS, Texas, March 25.—Some gubernatorial aspirants in Texas may be staying up nights formulating speeches and mapping out their campaign for ballots in the approaching primaries, but not Governor Miriam A. Ferguson. However, it is not to be implied that any one is asleep in the Ferguson household. Standing for re-election upon her administration record and with “Pa” on hand to ward off attack from any source, Governor "Ma" appears to be waiting without trepidation for the summer campaign to start. Daily routine, alternating bt- . tween hours of official duties at the capitol and restricted social hours at the mansion will not be changed during the campaign. The brunt of Mrs. Ferguson's race for re-election will fall upon her hus-

band, “Farmer Jim” Ferguson, rated as one of the shrewdest politicians in the State’s history. On his shoulders rests the task of carrying his wife's appeal to the voters at the “forks of the creek” as in her first campaign. Lined up against the woman Governor is what political observers consider a complicated field. The Democratic primary entx-ies include three men and two women seeking the Governor's chair. Mrs. Edith Williams of Dallas, former State representative, has invaded the field, taking from Governor Ferguson the exclusiveness of being che only woman candidate, as was the case two years ago. Lynch Davidson of Houston, millionaire lumberman and former Lieutenant Governor; Dan Moody, youthful attorney general, and A. E. man of Naples constitute the male entries to date. Davidson, Moody and Mrs. Edith Williams have enunciated their platform as the embodiment of “honesty and simplicity” in government, along the general lines oiS the present executive. Zimmerman, who styles himself the "Tithing Evangelist,” has laid his groundwork upon the academic lines of “higher taxes for the rich and less for the poor.” Zimmerman would also seek to increase the annual salary of the Governor from $4,000 to $25,000. The candidates will take the field
