GRAND OPERA IS SUNG BY TRIO FROM CHICAGO Delightful Program Given in Dining Room of Club. Grand opera in the abstract was heard to advantage Tuesday night at the Indianapolis Athletic Club when the Chicago operatic trio sang to an enthusiastic audience in the main dining room. Madame Irene Pavloska, mezzo soprano, concluded her eighth season with the Chicago Grand Opera Company, substituted for Madame Myrna Sharlow. She has the true qualities of a dramatic soprano. Her voice is full and "rich, and she has a wide range. She received enthusiastic applause last year when she appeared here in the title role of “Rose-Marie." Her softest tones were heard perfectly throughout the large room. The other artists were Forrest Lamont, tenor, and Virgilio Lazzari, bass, who responded again and again with encores. All the artists were generous in this regard. Frank St. Leger, accompanied the trio with that perfection of playing which brings out the best qualities of the singers’ voices. The main program was in Italian for the most part. In their encores, however, the artists chose lively, delightful folk songs in English, Irish, or French, which were exceptionally popular. The program: Trio from the third act of “Madame Butterfly’’ 'Puccini Mme. Pavloska.. .Messrs. Lamont and L&zzari. Duet from “CavaUeria Rusticana.’’ Mme. Pavloska and Lamont. Solo—“La Calunnia” from “Barber of Seville’’ Rossini Lazzari. Trio from “Atilla” Verdi Mme. Pavoloska. Messrs. Lamont and Duet from "La Forza del Destino”. ..Verdi Mme. Pavloska and Lazzari. Solo—“D Raeconto” (Andrea Chenier) Giordano Lamont. Aria from “Carmen.” Mme. Pavloska. Duet from “Faust.” Finale of First Aea Gounod Trio from Finale. Last Act of “Faust”.. Gounod Mme. Pavloska. Messrs. Lamont and Lazari.
