GIRLS WIN IN ESSAYCONTEST Have Chance for Chemical 0 Society Prizes, Four Indianapolis high school girls are among the prize winners in the nation-wide prize essay contest conducted under the auspices of the American Chemical Society. Inez Lloyd, 3021 N. Capitol Aye., Shortridge High School student, and Elizabeth Dawson, 1226 28. Temple Ave, Technical student, won first prizes. Miss Lloyd’s essay topic was “Chemistry In Its Relation to National Defense.’’ Miss Dawson’s subject was “Chemistry In Its Relation to the Enrichment of Life.” Ruth Kathryn Lewis, Shortrldge pupil, 3712 Ruckle St., won second prize for her essay on “Relation of Chemistry to Health and Disease,” and Mary C.. TEACHER FIFTY YEARS IS DEAD Tribute Paid Life of Instructor. Mrs. M. C. Hunt, 1257 S. West St., today paid tribute to the life of Miss Mary A. McKeever, a teacher in Indianapolis schools for fiftyone years, who died last week in Troy, Ohio. Miss McKeever resigned as principal of Catherine Merrill School, No. 25, New Jersey and Merrill Sts., after serving as principal for more than a quarter century. "She was a remarkable woman, possessed of a strong intellect and the finer instincts of a child’s friend.
