MAN KILLED IN TRACTION CRASH Jennings Clarkson, Ben Davis, Is Victim. Jennings Clarksop, 28, of near Ben Davis, died Thursday at Robert Long Hospital from injuries sustained when struck by a west-bound inter-/ urban car near Ben Davis. Clarkson was returning home from work. Freeman Ltddy, R. R. O, Box 72, said Clarkson drove his machine in front of the lnterurban. Clarkson received a fractured skull and died an hour later Sheriff Omer Hawkins ordered William Glasscock, motorman, and Willis R. Handy, conductor, of Greencastle, Ind., to report for questioning. Clarkson is survived by the widow and parents, Mr; and Mi's. Jessie Clarkson of Jennings County.

POOLROOM IS ASSAILED Police Chief Tells Church Class It Is Breeder of Crime. “Mere youths, 16, 17 and 18 years old,” are outdoing “hardened criminals, master minds of Action,” in committing crimes, Police Chief Claude F. Johnson told the Central Avenue M. E. Church young people’s c.ass Thursday night, “Take the, youthful criminal,” Johnson said. "The chances are nine to one that he is a poolroom loafer, and. as a breeder of crime, I believe that the poolroom, particularly the out-of-the-way poolroom, 1 a without equal.”
WATER CASE TO BE CONSIDERED Calumet Official Will Confer With Jackson. Governor Jackson has granted an audience Monday morning to a group of business men from the Calumet district who are interested in the fight in the United States Supreme Court waged by lake States to enjoin the city of Chicago from further use of Lake Michigan water for the city’s sanitary district. The suit is being actively pressed by the legal department of Wisconsin. Such vast quantities of water are being drained from Lake Michigan the- -water level of the entire lake system is being endangered, it is charged. Indiana is one of several surrounding States appearing as a “friend of the court.” Attorney General Arthur L. Gilliom recently submitted an informative brief. Illinois authorities are questioning jurisdiction of the Supreme Court. Those to confer with Jackson are officials of the Chambers of Commerce and civic leaders from Calumet cities.

WAYNE, Ind., March 12.—LeRoy Lewark, of Muncle, today was under sentence of two to twentyone years In the State Prison on his plea of guilty to arson. Lewark admitted setting fire to a building of the Olds Coal Company. Harry Gates, of the State fire marshal’s office, conducted the investigation which led to Lewark’s arrest.
