SMALLER MONEY BEING PLANNED Bills Two-Thirds Smaller Considered. Bv United Press "WASHINGTON. March 12—Subemution of a bill about two-thirds the size of the present currency Is under consideration by a special Treasury Department committee, according to Herbert D. Brown, chief of the Bureau of Efficiency. Brown said the committee was studying. the possibility of Issuing currency about the same size as that used in the Philippine Islands, in place of that now In circulation. The average life of Government money, according to Brown, has increased to ten months of late. About a year ago It averaged seven months. "The life of notes of smaller denominations,” said Brown, "is very much shorter than those of larger denominations because they are in more active use. A hundred dollar bill would last almost indefinitely, because it has less use.” Because of inferior paper and Inability of chemicals to stand up, Brown said the Treasury had abandoned the practice of washing currency. OI J> LETTERS SOLD LONDON,—A collection of autograph letters and documents relating to the American revolution is on sale here. Among the letters are several signed by General Gage, Aaron Burr and William Moore, than president of Pennsylvania. Naval dispatcher and documents also are included.

For several months Lucy Thomson had the neighbors believing that ghosts anil spirits occupied her home. One of her ghostly pretensions consisted In sudden flashing sparks of light. These luminous spots caused all who sought to solve the mystery to dash madly toward home. Lucy secured this effect by painting phosphorescence on the tiny panes of this leaded glass -window. The glass was divided Into thirty-six peuies and only one pane In any of three directions was covered. One night she accidently rubbed off three spots of phosphorescence. So she repainted the spots but the final effect was changed. The spots were placed on different panes and

no row in any direction contained more than one spot. What was the second arrangement? Last puzzle answer: Roald Amundsen took fourteen Eskimos with him from the first village. At the second village he hired half as many more Eskimos, or seven persons. This made a total of twenty-one Eskimos. But fj|ve white men landed with him and he himself made the sixth white man. Therefore the total number of men in camp after they left the second village was twenty-seven (fourteen plus seven plus 5 plus 1), the number given in the puzzle.
