GOLF GREENTO GE PRESERVED City Boards Decide to Save Course. The loving care and tender solicitude a golf green requires was the subject of discussion at a joint meeting of the park and works boards Monday. * “Woodstock Club members object to curving Clifton St. through the park because they say a golf green it will cut off will require two years to replace,” said Emsley Johnson, park board president. “That sounds like bunk,” commented Roy C. Shaneberger, board of works president. Clifton St. will be routed only from Pomander PI. to Golden Hill Hr., the boards decided, thereby preserving the golf green and eliminating temporarily a turn to which business men of North Indianapolis objected. The business men sought to extend Clifton St. straight through Woodstock Club links to Northwestern Ave., near Thirty-Eighth St., but a lease of the park board property the club uses prevents the undertaking, Johnson reported. EVIDENCE IS CONSIDERED Petition for Injunction on Improvement Under Advisement. Judge Clinton H. Givan of Superior Court Four today had under advisement evidence presented Monday at a hearing for an injunction, asked by property owners, enjoining Harry Dunn, county auditor, from certifying to the State tax board a remonstrance of the Indiana Taxpayers Association to a joint bond issue of city and county for $123,000. Judge Givan gave attorneys until Wednesday to file briefs. The bond issue is for the proposed of Baltimore and Hillside Aves., from Thirty-Fourth St. to Bloyd Ave. The remonstrance, filed Friday, charged the amount asked is $19,000 in excess of the actual costs of improvements..

Puzzle a Day

Many people have found learning the Charleston such strenuous work that they are turning to the quiet old-fashioned dances for relief. Miss Bina West of Port Huron, Mich., supreme commander of the Woman’s Benefit Association, is helping the more awkward ones. She has asked “many” local bodies of her organization to form old-fashioned dance classes. By “many” she means a number which is divisible in four parts, in such a manner that the first part is 800 times, the second 400 times, the third 60 times, as large as the last or smallest, part. While the sum of the digits in the number is four and one-half times as large as the last part. Can you tell exactly what number she means by “many." Last puzzle answer:

5|17|16|6 (7) 14 6 9_ 11® (Q)ioi2J3 7_® 15|5i4h6

The simples way to solve this puzzle is to leave the four comer numbers and four inner numbers in their squares. Next exchange the two other numbers in the first row in their reverse order, with the same two in the last row, in their reverse order. Do the same with the corresponding pairs in the side rows. Then the total 42 will be secured in ten rows, four down, four across and two diagonally. Circled numbers in the diagram show the original positions. (Copyright, 1926, NEA Service, Inc.)

Get Rid of That Cough!

John G. Bechtol

"Some years ago I caught a severe cold and had the fight of my life to get rid of it. I coug ed almost constantly until I was so weak I could hardly navigate. I tried many remedies but none of them gave me much relief. After two or three months I thought I would have to go to some other climate, which I did not do, but began using Dr. Pierce's Golden Medical Discovery and after taking about one and a half dozen bottles in connection with Dr. Pierce's Pleasant Pellets I was again in good health. I am satisfied Dr. Pierce's remedies saved my life. They also relieved me of a bad case of indigestion.”—John G. Dechtol, 708 Harrison St., Ft. Wayne, Ind. iehusm ms IE lIOWJ SEASON Says glass of Salts helps to overcome Rheumatism acid. Rheumatism is easier to avoid than to cure, states a well-known authority; We are advised to dress warmly, keep the feet dry, avoid exposure, and above all, drink plenty of good water and avoid eating sweets of all kind. Rheumatism is caused by body waste and acids resulting from food fermentation. It is the function of the kidneys to filter this poison from the blood and cast it out in the urine; the pores of the skin are also a means of freeing the blood of this impurity. In damp and chilly cold weather the skin pores are closed, thus forcing the kidneys to do double work; they become weak and sluggish and fail to eliminate this waste and acids, which keeps accumulating and circulating through the system, eventually settling in the joints and muscles, causing stiffness, soreness and pain, called rheumatism. At the first twinge of rheumatism get from any pharmacy about four ounces of Jad Salts; put a tablespoonful in a glass of water and drink before breakfast eaeh morning for a This Is helpful to neutralize acidity, remove waste matter, also to stimulate the kidneys, thus often ridding the blood of rheumatic poison. Jad Salts is inexpensive, and is made from the acid of grapes and lemon juice, combined with litiha, and is used with excellent results by thousands of folks who are subject to rheumatism. —Advertisement.*
