IMPROVEMENT IS NOTED IN STATE ROADS Surface Conditions on Indiana Highways Are Better. Considerable Improvement Is noted In the surface conditions of gravel and stone roads, a few of which were badly cut by heavy traffic during recent thaws, It was pointed out in the State highway commission’s traffic bulletin today. Traffic now is using the new overhead railroad bridge, constructed jointly by the commission and the Illinois Central, five miles south of Indianapolis on State Rd. 22. Surface conditions on roads entering Indianapolis are set forth In the bulletin as follows: Rd. 1 (New Albany. Indianapolis, South Bend. Michigan line) —Detour just north ot Peru account of dredge ditch. Detour front two miles north ot.-Edinbure to Irankim account of paving. Old road at Marsnfteld will serve all traffic, but is subject to inundation by high water. Rd. 3 (Richmond. Indianapolis, Terre Haute) —Temporary bridge at six miles west of Richmond. Rd. 6 (Madison, Greensburg, Indianapolis. Lafayette. Oxford)—Detour at two miles north of Lebanon to Thorntown Rd., thence north through Thorntown to Ra. o. Short detour two and one-half mues northwest of Thorntown is very soft. Through traffic from Indianapolis to Lafayette should use Rds. 44 and 29 from Lebanon to Lafayette. Rd 13 (Vincennes. Spencer. Indianapo11s)—Drive carefully at approaches to temporary bridge two miles north of Gosport. Rd 23 (English. Pad!. Bedford. Bloomington. Martinsville. Indianapolis)—Traffic •jug new railroad overhead bridge at live lies south of Indianapolis, but in exemelv wet weather it is best to use deutr out S. Meridian St. as new gradewill very soft.
