GIPPRICH DENIES ‘MOVIE’ REPORT Takes Side of Accused Wife. Leo Gipprlch, husband of Mrs. Ruth Glpprich, accused with Graftdn Clary, 70, of conspiring to murder Gipprlch, is publicly taking up the side of his wife and is highly indignant at the report that she has considered entering the movies, it was learned today. . “Say, I think that’s pretty small—some one trying to pin that statement onto my wife,” he commented. ‘•‘This is all there was to that. A stranger telephoned my wife, suggesting that the movies would offer her opportunities now. The poor little woman hasn’t had much to smile over lately, and that appealed to her as a great joke. She told it, not taking it. seriously or thinking any one else would. A reporter seized upon it —it's ridiculous.. "Say, T thought real people didn't kick a dog when he’s down. Isn’t there something in the law about believing a, person innocent until lie proves himself guilty? I have full faith in my wife’s innocence of this supposed murder pact, and I only ask that other people give her the benefit of the doubt.” COOUDGE LAUDS ! G. WASHINGTON Hails Him Prince of Teachers in N. E. A. Address. Bu-Times Special WASHINGTON. Feb. 23.—As a school boy. George Washington was a bad speller gnd a worse grammarian, but he lived it down and in the end became a prince of teachers, President. Coolidge told the department of superintendence of the National Education Association In convention here, Monday night. The President left all discussion of Washington’s alleged experiments with home-brew to the anti-prohi-bition conference which was at dinner a few squares away, with a menu card on which the first President’s reputed beer recipe was printed in fao simile. Coolidge quoted one authority, Paul Leicester Ford, who said: “The end of Washington’s school days left him a good cipherer, a bad speller and a still worse grammarian; but fortunately the termination of instruction did not by any. means end his education.” Except for this boyhood shortcoming the President found Washington a supreme character. "It'ls doubtful, if anyone outside of certain great religious teachers ever so thoroughly impressed himself on the heart of humanity as has Aleorge Washington,” the President mia. ~ “He Was a soldier, a patriot, a statesman; hut in addition to all these he was a great teacher.” SENATORSTALK AT FT. WAYNE Watson. Robinson Defend World Court Vote. Bu United Frets FT. WAYNE, Ind., Feb. 23. Political friends of Senators Watson and Robinson pushed out today to hold the Tenth, Twelfth and Thirteenth Congressional Districts solid for them in the Republican senatorial primaries.
