LAD, 8, LIES TO SAVE HONOR OF SLAIN MOTHER Finally Admits Suspect in Murder ‘Came to His House.’ United Preaa CHICAGO, Feb. 16.—A little 8-year-old boy stood before Capt. Patrick Harding at the Shakespeare Ave. Police Station last night and lied to save the honor of his murdered mother. Frank Gilardi, 8-year-old son of Mrs. Antoinette Gilardi, a divorcee-, murdered by an unknown assassin, told Captain Harding that he did not know Alexander Litisa, who Is held at the station In connection with the murder. Punches Typewriter Frank was sitting on the stool punching a typewriter when the captain brought Litisa in. The youngster carefully surveyed the suspect. “Nope,, I don’t know him,” he said. Police had been investigating, they said, and found that Litisa aad been posing as Mrs. Gilardi’s husband and renting the flat where she lived. “Come now, Frank, you know him. Didn't he come to your house often,” the captain said. Frank remained steadfast in his denials for more than an hour. Finally the youngster quit peokHg away at the typewriter keys and up. I Know Him "I know him,” he said. “He used to come to our house often.” “Then, Frank, why did you lie to us?” “Why," Frank’s voice sank to a whisper. “Why, I didn’t want to hurt mother’s feelings.” Mrs. Gilardi was shot and killed Monday morning when she opened a back door.
